Post by joshcamel »

Hey, Anyone know a solution to fix a broken 100series diff for good? (other than front lockers) I have broken it 4x now, each time is $1800! 3 out of 4x has been Crown and pinion!

$1800 a pop WOW send it to me i will happly bend you over the way that guy has.

$400 nittro gear set
$200 build kit
$300 labour (if you just bring in the center) extra $200 if i have to take it out.

Or look on ebay or on here for a used diff you can find them for around $350 or less some times.

what Dave Said - you could just about get it fixed with an air locker installed for not much more than your $1800. are we talking 100 series (IFS) or 105 series (live axle)?

if you really don't want a locker, you need to learn to drive a lot more sympathetically. Reversing up an incline is instant death for 100s front diffs.

I thought they put in Nissan centres to fix this problem. I know someone in Brisbane who has done a few.

that is part of a package solution but does not make "all the difference" - the factory open hemisphere is also a weak link - it has a big "window" which allows the crownwheel to flex away from the pinion in high stress situations - a locker makes a big difference because it deletes that particular weak link. you can get the same result by using a 4 pinion limited slip hemisphere from a bundera/hilux.

on 80 series, upgrading the mounting studs from 8mm to 10mm also significantly improves the rigidity of the whole assembly - not sure if the 105 uses 8 or 10mm studs? and still don't know if we are talking IFS or live axle here?
