80 series factory turbo gearing

Post by wrinkled bits »

does any one know if the gearing is different on the factory turbo diesel 80 series,
i have a turbo and non turbo model, both running 33s the turbo model seems to be reeving its ring out, 2100 rpm at 80 k, where the non turbo doesn't have a taco, but doesn't seem to be reeving no where as hard and runs the gears out better.
we also have a troopy non diesel it sits on 100k at 2100rpm
thanks for any feedback .

Are they both manual? Both 80series?

Ratio 1hz 1hd-t (turbo)
1st 4.529 4.081
2nd 2.464 2.294
3rd 1.490 1.490
4th 1.000 1.000
5th 0.811 0.881

Both should have the same diff ratios, unless someone else has changed them.

Both engines are happy revving on the highway (its just noisey), my turbo 80 sat at around 2600RPM at 110km/hr

My 105series (non turbo) sits on 2200RPM at 110km/hr with 35" tyres and changed diff ratios, and it lacks power, needs to be revving higher.

yes both are manuals, both running the same size tyres, the turbo has had a marks adaptor part time kit fitted, apart from that, i don't know if the diff ratio has been changed.
interested to see what other factory turbo 80s are reeving at.
