Hey Mate,
I had an '84 yn65 single cab. I removed the 3y for a 253 from a vc commo, then a stroked 308 from I think a HQ, then the inj 304 from a vn calais using the rod shop kit with dellows engine mounts (the rod shop mounts are crap, they dont line up an use the std hilux rubbers which tear apart). The two older engines I just used the std vc commo headers (the hq extractors didnt come close to fitting), the 304 came supplied with some (ss style) headers, not sure what they are exactly thats just what the wreckers called them an they didnt fit anyway. In the end the exhaust shop supplied a set of what he called standard vn 5litre headers. Once you drop a v8 in theres not much room for too much else its just all engine, good luck with the heat issues, my advice, fit a bonnet scoop straight up, the biggest you can find to stop that engine bay holding heat.
