Toyota diff's
First post on outers so I thought I'd make it worth while and post about something I need to know and not about someone's build.
What I wanted to know is are the ln106, new hilux's and 80 series diff pinion and ring gear the same. I want to use an 80 series front diff and housing and a new Hilux rear diff for my tuff truck lux i'm building. But I want to use the 5.29:1 diff's I'm buying still. Thanks for any help you can provide.

Re: Toyota diff's
The 80 series front diff although the same size crown and pinion is different to the low pinion hilux crown and pinion. They are not interchangable. The high pinion is a reverse cut gear set. I beleive 5.29 gears are available for the 80 series front new aftermarket.
Re: Toyota diff's
If your using an 80 series front housing why would you want to put a low pinion diff in it... I have an 80 series high pinion 4.1 ratio air locker for sale...http://cgi.ebay.com.au/ws/eBayISAPI.dll ... :MESELX:IT
Are you buying diff gears or complete centre??? if you are buying complete centre and you still want to fit a low pinion diff to the front its not hard to modify the housing to fit, however as RUFF said the gear sets are different being high pinion are reverse cut gears...

Re: Toyota diff's
Well to explain it a bit better. i want the width of the 80 series front. i haven't ordered the gears as yet but was planning on soon. i want 5.29 cause i'm running 40's and want an even lower reduction, i'm also putting 4.7 locktup crawlers in my second transfer case behind the commy v6, but if a high pinion 5.29 is available i may just work with that.
Thanks for your help guy's.

Re: Toyota diff's
If your running twin transfers with 4.7 reduction gears I doubt you will need the extra gearing of 5.29's, plus 4.88's or lower will be stronger for the extra torque you have from the transfer gearing.

Thanks everyone for the comments. You've given me a fair bit to stew on. Thanks. Now is there a build ups page on here I can't seem to find it.
