I will elaborate a bit. I currently compete in trophy class in the green suzuki, ring ding ding racing.

It is a hard top chopped into a softtop and thus the hard top had solid doors.

The softop original tub, only had canvas doors or a single lap height grab bar. I assumed that some sort of door would need to be fabbed.

The original hardtop doors will not fit.

Just a reminder to all of our new competitors that your vehicle needs to be scrutineered prior to competing. Unfortunatly we only have limited time to be able to do this on a Comp weekend so we ask that scrutineering be organized prior to comp weekend. This can be done by contacting us via email info@toughtracks4wdclub.org or Pm Bowtie Landie.
Also track building is on this weekend the 15th. Cals Climb is looking good for Challenge and Outlaw.
It's easy to get upto Cals even with a stock 120 series prado with a 2 inch lift so watching the comp up there will be worth the drive.

SELF RECOVERY

Post by Ricko »

A reminder to Challenge Class and Outlaw Class competitors - you MUST be able to self-recover. Ideally you will have a quality operational winch on board. As a last resort, you will need to be pals with another competitor to assist in your recovery.

In round 1, recoveries went reasonably well, but I feel there is room for a lot of improvement.

The good points were the way the teams worked together and helped each other out in recoveries. Even the diesel shop buggy from Outlaw helped in a Challenge Class recovery. This was really great to see and made for expediant recoveries, one of which being the difficult Tuff Lux recovery on Track 1.

Where we looked sad though, was with the lack of winches that had been recently tested, serviced, or that were run by a completely inadequate battery. I would really appreciate all teams to do some checks on their recovery gear, ensure it is all up to scratch, and be ready and prepared to use the gear they have on board.

The tracks this round are likely to be difficult to access for recoveries, so the more independant the cars are, the better. That said, given the way the teams worked in Round 1, I am sure there should be no issues.

I am really looking forward to this round. I will be out there on Sunday, looking for a couple of big rocks for the Challenge Class trucks to drive over, and a couple of tricky lines to get the navis working too.

See you all out there.
Cheers
Rick C

As a side note, I have found some trophy plaques that I think belong to Rick Nolan. If he or someone who knows him, can PM me his details, I will arrange them to be posted.

Hey Peter
4.11. Vehicle Doors
4.11.1. All vehicles shall run doors.
4.11.2. Intrusion bar shall not be altered in any model vehicle that has them
fitted as standard.
4.11.3. ‘Cut-down Doors’ are not allowed.

this really sucks for us truggy and buggy owners how want to compete
is there anyway this rule in red can be looked at

my rock doors and extra tube work which has taken place of the intrusion bars are way stronger than the factory door strength

would this be scrutineered on each vechile and if improved from std be passed or failed

cheers kelvin

Could any questions that you have about the current rules be PM to either us or Bowtie Landie(Peter K) or you can send them through to info@toughtracks4wdclub.org :)
Posting these questions on here seems to open it up to everyones comments and only causes problems for peoples interpritation of the rules.

Outlaw/buggy class rules are as per tuff truck so half doors are aloud in that class. That was the what was said at the last meeting I attended.

Ben is right Kelvin, and an oversight on my part.

4.11.3. should finish with "excludes outlaw class".

Even Rolly missed this one when I got him to have a look over it for outlaw. :)

It will be corrected though.

Hi Bruce, after discussions with Wendy, I understand it to be as follows:-

it is $45 per car per week-end (plus camping if required). If you park the car and DO NOT allow it to be driven around by spectators then you will only pay the $45 for the comp vehicle. If you park the trailer and allow the tow car to be driven around then it is 2 x $45 for the week-end.

I will confirm this with Wendy as soon as possible & Tonka here.

We have been asked to confirm details for entering Scenic Rim Adventure Park during the Tough Tracks Competition weekend
For those who have not been to the park before do not drive past the round-a-bout on Sandy Creek Road. Swan Gully Road is the dirt road going through the cattle yards on the right at the roundabout.
Continue along that dirt road through Squirrel Hill and as you drive down the hill KEEP LEFT. Travel up a slight grade and round the bend on the LEFT you will see our Welcome to Scenic Rim Adventure Park Banner in the trees.
The road off to the right is our neighbor's private road. Caravans, car trailers and 2x2 cars only to travel that road please. All other off-road vehicles to keep LEFT up the hill through one gate then down the other side to the office.
Payment is cash only on your arrival or you can contact us on our website for prepaid payments.
If you are travelling with a group we strongly suggest you pre book your campsite if you want to camp together. Check the notice board for booked sites before setting up camp or you will be requested to move if you have taken someone's booked site
Our entry fees are as followed
$35 per car for a day drive and all passengers must be seated in seatbelts.
$45 per car overnight Friday to Sunday afternoon plus camping fee of $7 per night per adult and $4 per night per child between 5 and 16 years
Trucks or tow cars which will not be driven through the park will have a no drive sticker and will not be charged the entry fee
Wrist bands are to be worn throughout the weekend.
Cars must display their entry sticker on the left of their windscreen as proof of payment
We recommend you bring your own drinking water.
Firewood can be collected from the property but no trees are to be cut down.
We will have a sausage sizzle, cans of drinks and snacks available Saturday
As Tough Tracks competition areas are throughout the park walk in spectators are not recommended for this event.
We are looking forward to a great weekend
Kind regards
Wendy

If ya haven't been to Scenic Rim Adventure Park before, you can bypass Beaudesert if coming down the Mount Lindesay Hwy. Turn right off Mt Lindesay Hwy at Allan Creek Rd, then left at "T" intersection onto Bromelton House Rd. Follow this and will bring you out onto the Beaudesert-Boonah Rd which you turn right on to. Just up the road turn left onto Sandy Creek rd. :?

Hope this helps. It's a bit of a short cut. But if ya need a feed or fuel then don't go this way. :D
