Hey guys just wondering if anyone has any pics of a zook body on patrol chassis?

At a guess the patrol chassis would be alot wider than a zook chassis and the body mounts definitly wont line up.fair bit of mucking around

Yeh I know its a lot wider but this chassis has gu diffs and 38s so basically just wanted to see some cool pics or build ups. Will be a dedicated comp truck

definatly a great idea but realistically no so great..
it will be a far better advantage to a complete GQ as its lots smaller.
but from a zook comp truck point of view its too long to make good use the narrow body, it will have the diffs outside the body work.... FRONT AND REAR..
what comps do you plan on entering?? or is this a fun weekend trailer type car??

i think the weight issue would be a problem too.gu front doesnt like to flex especially so with bugger all weight.
you could link it and get some air shocks.Id also be shortening up the chassis a heap front and rear

Hey guys, thanks for the response all I want is something different. I have a workshop were my bosses are encouraging me and as 4x4 specialists we love to do things different.
The main benefit is a pretty much bullet proof drive line which is very wide so thus means stable. Also GU diffs are really strong. Also I've been driving a gq for a while now and they are hard to see all corners and find the cab cops a fair bit of punishment.
Patrol cab could do with an exo but they don't look good with and exo. Not to mention the shear weight a patrol cab is supper heavy.
I am gonna chop the chassis down a fair bit but I wanna find the perfect wheel base. Would love it to be similar to the Lukey Performance built suzzy Q from tuff truck.
As for what comps main aim is tuff truck next year. It doesn't matter about wheels not under the body. It is a chopped down zook and flares on axles will be used. I might even put a v8 in it unsure of engine combo yet.

An engine swap will be required as I doubt you'll fit a straight 6 into the engine bay.

Yeh haven't thought a great deal into engine combo. I know it maybe need thought about a v8 or the v6.
Rollys gq from Advanti racing runs a v6 and performs good so open to what ever I need to do.

Seems like a pretty unlikely match, but it would be possible with a stack of work and heavy modification.
Try to pick up a LWB, so you don't have to cut up as much of the chassis, because too much off it and it'll be a disaster.

I understand there is an immense amount of work to complete but it is a chance for us to promote our business and make a hard core truck to rock the competition in the rock crawling scene

The cab I have has been cut already partly the reason I'm using it.
Also I'm planning on shortening my patrol chassis to the steering box or even further and mounting the cab just a lil bit in front of mid mounted
It will be similar to suzzy q which was team at4 at tuff truck a few years back

honestly slapping it all onto the zook chassie would be a much better option as the con's far outweigh the pro's with your idea or just keep it a patrol, trust me i went down the same road as you can tell from the above post^^^

So I did some reading and found tuff truck rules state cab swaps are ok but firewall needs to line up to that of the original bodies position. Also chassis needs to be 300mm in front of firewall and finish behind the cab so chassis narrowing will be alright.

I annoyingly wrote quite a detailed response to this a couple of days ago, but it was eaten by the outers monster, but that was before the cab shift information.
I reckon you need to have a really good think about how far you want to go with this project, because to get a meaningful advantage over running an MQ cab on the GU chassis, or tubing out a sierra chassis and hanging the GU diffs under that is going to be quite complex.
The straight 6 is never going to work. If you want to do that, just run an MQ cab. It's not much wider than the sierra cab and will cover the 6.
You really need to achieve lots of the engine setback to get the weight within the wheelbase. That's not easy with a sierra cab - they are pretty narrow, so you can't get much motor in there - especially a V motor.
To balance the car, and fit a motor under the sierra bonnet, I'd have a look at SR20DET motors. They make plenty of power for a TT scenario, and with the right combination of bits, should bolt to a Patrol auto, or a 200SX/silvia auto could be fitted with a patrol back 1/2 to bolt to a patrol transfer.
I guess the more compact and flexible solution would be SR20-C4-Rover transfer.
Either way, this would give you a light, compact motor that's sat totally behind the front axle line, and will fit under the sierra bonnet.
Obviously, you need to deal with the crap roll stiffness of the patrol front suspension - it's going to be even worse with a lighter cab and motor. Maybe a 3 link?
I'd do some work on paper and lots of measurements to see how low you could get the sierra cab on the chassis - it might take some channelling to achieve, but getting the cab to sit down low on the chassis would be a big advantage for COG.
I like the idea, but it might not be less work than hanging it off of a sierra chassis, considering you only need 1500mm of sierra chassis and rest is free. I reckon by the time you shorten the front of the GU chassis, sort out the front suspension, play with the wheelbase, let alone narrowing it as you have mentioned (yikes!) etc etc there's no point starting with such a heavy and bulky chassis. It's only got to last tough truck, not drive around australia towing a caravan.

Yeh thanks it is good to have detailed feedback, as for front suspension and the patrol gear doesn't flex well I was gonna link it up and shorten chassis to the steering box.
As for engine I know the straight 6 isn't going to work, I was thinking v6 commodore motor as it has been done time and time again and will fit in zook engine bay as the zook that I'm taking the cab of has a 6 in it. Radiator is going to be rear mounted.
As for narrowing chassis I was going to just make the rear into a truggy style chassis.
I have thought about channeling body over chassis but need to do a bit of measuring soon. This project will be underway soon
