Changed the fuel filter on Saturday on the BJ40, and after bleeding the system the screw kept turning and didn't end up tightening up. Tread must be buggered or something.
Any idea where one is to get a new one of these? Tried Repco today but had the usual "whats this thing, gee it must be a specialist part".

Toyota or a wreckers.
It's not really a consumable or wearing part, so i wouldn't expect repco to have one.

The worst part about being told you have Alzheimer's, is that it doesn't just happen once.
Re: Diesel Bleeding Screw - BJ40
Mine was very hard to screw back down, once its is primed, I had to back off the bleed nipple, and tighten it down, and then do the bleed nipple back up. it took a number of goes to get it to tighten up.
might be worth having another go at it, as i'm yet to hear of one stripping its thread.

Re: Diesel Bleeding Screw - BJ40
i forgot to tighten mine once, and it fell out on the highway. lost heaps of fuel before i even noticed.
Turns out its a standard thread, and you dont really need the real part. Readily available from your local toyota parts place as it is, if you can find something that fits, as long as its quite short, you can at least test that the thread in the pump is still ok.

Re: Diesel Bleeding Screw - BJ40
Well no go at Toyota, there isnt one is Australia apparently. And to make it worse I had to bastardise the one I have, after the little bleeding screw came fully out on Saturday on the motorway, I had to jam another screw in the top of it to stop it pissing out.
Now that I cant get the same part from Toyota, I'm going to see if perhaps a later model assembly will fit. If anyone has any pics for any other toyota diesel of this area, it would be greatly appreciated
