I know Toyota generally speaking have a better offset than Nissan but would the 80 series rims fit straight onto a Patrol without worry about scrubbing anywhere... calipers etc??

16 inch wheels will bolt up no worries and make the tire sit much nicer near the flared wheel arch on a patrol instead of making it look like a transit van on a mini wheel track. 15 inch rims don't alwasy fit on a GU. You need to test fit them and make sure you have enough clearance on the caliper to get rid of stones and debri without jamming up and damaging the rim or caliper.

You get an extra 25mm offset each rim for a total of 50mm extra wheel track. As for the actual offsets I can't remember off the top of my head.

Patrol is zero offset, LandCruiser around -23mm, Gen 2 Pajero +10mm.
Some aftermarket rims are -13mm, as this is basically halfway between 'Cruiser and Patrol offset. A "one size fits all" compromise (well, sort of fits some...)

80 Series GXL 16x8 cruiser rims are DEFIANTLY zero offset.. I have been told different on many occasions so I have measured it many times to confirm it...

The 16 x 7 rims I took off my 80 series RV last month were 0 offset. When I sold them on ebay many ebay experts suggested they would be many thing including +25 but I measured them and they were definitely 0.

The RTA spec sheet lists 80 series with 0mm offset for GXL, +30mm for the split rim base model.
The "-25mm 'Cruiser offset" thing that so many ppl on here refer to is the old 45/ 60/ 75 series. Even then I think many of those models may have only been -13mm or so offset from the factory but with the 12mm max rim offset allowable in NSW this allows -25mm rims to be fitted aftermarket. This is only speculation based on the theory that aftermarket would offer wider than factory offset rims- and -37mm rims are not popular on these models, but every second 40/ 60/ 75 Cruiser is getting around on -25mm 15 x 8 sunnies.
The 105 series would be positive offset standard for sure, the IFS models probably +30.
Patrol offset too varies between years, I'm pretty sure -25mm rims are OK for G60s, MQs, but GQs would have been more likely standard with 0 offset (guessing), making -12mm max offset for the rims. Telling us the offset is irrelevant without giving the rim width.
A 16 x 7 with zero offset is equal to a 16 x 8 with neg 13mm if you are looking at clearance inside the rim (ie backspace). The 16 x 8/-13mm will increase track width overall by 26mm but will not foul linkages/suspension any more than a 16 x 7/0mm

according to the Njoy book, which most tyre shops have to see factory sizes and offsets, GU has 3 different offsets for 3 different rim sizes
16 x 8 +10mm
16 x 6 +35mm
16 x 5.5 +15mm
