Re: SPECS FOR NEW 10000LB FAST RECOVERY WINCH
So...any more feedback on these winches?
Re: SPECS FOR NEW 10000LB FAST RECOVERY WINCH
Mine still runs like a champ, the 10000lbs hi speed looks to be out of stock though, probably due to the new model release. In NZ you can get it with remote free spool and can take 40m rope.

Re: SPECS FOR NEW 10000LB FAST RECOVERY WINCH
I know they are water proofing it much better and this, when I last heard, was a work in progress and the next realease won't come out until Paul is satisfied.
So it could be 3 months away or 12 months away.

Looks like mine has bit the dust, bought in in about July last year. It appears that the brake has seized, it still free spools fine, solenoids work and the motor thumps when you click in and out but there is no action. Dropping it off to Tigerz to have a look at this week and hopefully its sorted out quick smart.

Re: SPECS FOR NEW 10000LB FAST RECOVERY WINCH
I can't remember but either 5 or 8 weeks rings a bell. Not many are coming over and they will be the last shipment, ever. If you seriously want one I would pre-order before they arrive. I predict that they will be in stock for only a few days and then gone for good.
Tigerz11 is focusing on the regular winches. 20,000lb, 12,000lb, 9, 8, 6, 5, 4, 3, 2, 1500lb. Don't quote me on all those sizes but you get the idea.
To pre order, Call Steve on 1300 048 991 Paid in full comes first, deposits 2nd and leaving a number for a phone call 3rd. There is a good chance all can be serviced but you never know.

Re: SPECS FOR NEW 10000LB FAST RECOVERY WINCH
little bit of a review.
I have been running 24v threw my 12v 10,000lb and have used a few times over the last month. Once when I was bellied out on the 4wd action photo shoot, we used it in anger for the first time, the switches were wired to 24v (wrong), the solenoid welded on so the winch wouldn't stop pulling and it pulled the tree clean over. The other time I've used it was in the easter comp, I was stalled on a very steep hill it pulled all the way to the top and then I got the motor going again. So for me I am giving it a thumbs up, the only problems with it is that when we were winding the rope on the brake burnout as if it was jammed on. I'm not sure if this was anything to do with running 24v thru it or not, any ideas?
I saw one of the boys' winches at the comp and he was running a twin motor low mount warn (the photo below is the actual winch). Apparently all that was done to make it go faster is that one of the planetry gears was removed. Now comes the question, I would like to be able to do the same thing to the tigerz winch that I already have, now I think between me and a few mates we can figure it out and make it work but what I want to know is it going to be reliable enough and how easy is it to get parts in a hurry?

Re: SPECS FOR NEW 10000LB FAST RECOVERY WINCH
hahaha, I spoke to you about the the 24v idea a couple of months ago Shane, can I have Pauls number, PM me if you like? I'll give him a call and see what help he can be. I can't see why it won't work, I've never pulled down a warn low mount so I don't really know what the difference is. From pulling down the tigerz winch I think the only thing that will need beefing up is the hex bar that gives the drive from the motor to the gears because there will be more torque on it if I speed up the gearing. I'd love to be able to be competitive with a winch that cost the less for me to build then it did for them to buy the air free spool on their 8 grand winch .

Re: SPECS FOR NEW 10000LB FAST RECOVERY WINCH
That sure is winch by Mr Mason. Just looking at the different ratio's from the different tigerz winches. The 2 speed winch has a high speed ratio of 48:1, if you put that with 13.2 hp and 24v I Imagine that would be insanely fast. Breezys winch is stupid fast, and according to my math his original ratio was 156:1 so if he took a planetry out it should be 102:1 now. Would the gearbox from the 2 speed fit up to my winch?

Damn thats a pity, I was really hoping they would come to fruition, I really really wanted the solenoid operated free spool and a bigger base for more cable would have been great.

Re: SPECS FOR NEW 10000LB FAST RECOVERY WINCH
Rob, I saw your tigerz run on 24v at mackay comp and was quite impressed/suprised, pulled the middy around with ease and no sign of smoke (from the winch anyway haha). Now By removing one of the planetary gear sets u lose the reduction that set provides. This is 6:1. Which means it is now 6 times faster giving you a ratio of 156/6= 26:1. And that is bullshit fast. Remember that also your brake now has to deal with 6 times the load sitting on a hill. And like u said, the input shaft would need beefing up aswell with twin 24v. Masons set up really is a work of art with no doubt hundreds of hours testing and design.

Re: SPECS FOR NEW 10000LB FAST RECOVERY WINCH
Thanks gudge, so my maths is off, thanks for clearing that up. I was happy with how the winch worked at Easter, but because I like to be different I just want to see how it will go. I don't think mine will be as pretty as Russels but I have access to a twin motor low mount and we're aloud to pull it down and have a sticky beak. I don't think it will be easy but, I'm sure we should be able to figure it out.gudge wrote:Rob, I saw your tigerz run on 24v at mackay comp and was quite impressed/suprised, pulled the middy around with ease and no sign of smoke (from the winch anyway haha). Now By removing one of the planetary gear sets u lose the reduction that set provides. Re: SPECS FOR NEW 10000LB FAST RECOVERY WINCH
Got my winch back all repaired, needed a new motor and brake assembly due to water ingress. Bit annoying seeing as when I bought it they were advertised as being water proofed with proper seals etc, not advertised this way any more. And I was advised that if this type of damage occurs again it would not be covered under warranty. There is not much left that is covered by the 3 year warranty.hulsty wrote:Looks like mine has bit the dust, bought in in about July last year. Re: SPECS FOR NEW 10000LB FAST RECOVERY WINCH
Would it be possible to adapt an air/electronic freespool to the 10000lb that i already have? Also it looks as though the ones sold in NZ are just disengaging the clutch. correct me if im wrong but this just disconnects the motor from the gear box where as a true comp style free spool dicconnects the drum making it alot easier to pull the line out. I know that even with my standard tigers it is still easier to wind the cable out rather than freespool it. I've never looked inside a warn before to compare but would it be possible to mount one of these comp style free spools to the tigerz as i think this could probably save you more time than actual winching speed in a comp. combine this with a good 24v set up and you would have a good competitive winch for less than half the cost of all the other comp winches.
