Is it OK to mix brake fluid brands?
I know you shouldn't mix grades of brake fluid, ie DOT 4 & 5, but what about brands of the same grade?
I've read a few warnings about not mixing brands but I'm not sure if it's just marketing hype or if it's a genuine reason (like mixing coolants etc).

its not the done thing mixing diffrent brake fluid brake fluid has a sort slef life once opened so in sort yes it will work but brake fluid sucks ''absorb'' moisture into it there for diluteing the fluid so will not be as efficient as new fluid so drain and fill with one type service i think its about every 2years
Re: Brake fluid Q's - mixing brands
The reason I ask is because I flushed my brakes a month or so ago with Castrol but forgot to do my LSPV. I've just bought Valvoline (with the same DOT rating) so I can flush the LSPV line. Now I just read that you shouldn't mix brands but after looking at the spec sheets they are within about 5deg wet and dry boiling temps so seem to be fairly similar.

Re: Brake fluid Q's - mixing brands
i normally pick a different brand when i flush my brake fluid as different brands are usually different colours
Makes it easy to see when all the old stuff is gone!
To top up though, i try to use the same brand as whats in there
