Re: new torque wrench (teng or kincrome)
I used a TENG 1/2 torque wrench that I borrowed recently, it seemed a pretty good piece of kit to me and I have been using hand tools for a long time.
I also have Kinchrome and Teng socket sets, the Teng are a far superior product IMO.
Cheers

Re: new torque wrench (teng or kincrome)
The main difference is the +/- accuracy.
The lower it is, the better obviously.
Ontop of that digital wrenches can be re calibrated, and generally have angular calculation as well for the 90degree part of head torque sequences.
So, in a workshop environment a Snap or Stahl wrench would pay for itself, in the DIY/Handyman environment you would be better off with Teng IMO...

Re: new torque wrench (teng or kincrome)
personally if i had to get one over the other i would get the teng, but that is because i won't by kingchrome. One thing i have been told by the guy that comes and recalibrates or torque wrenches is that some of the cheaper ones he won't recalibrate because they are out of spec by the time he comes back again. by the way i have snap on in 1/2 and 3/8 drive and warren and brown 1/4 drive torque wrenches.

Re: new torque wrench (teng or kincrome)
try caterpillar there tools are very well priced (not like their spare parts )
anyway i have a 1/2 inch wrench from them and it even came complete with SNAPON warranty card in the box but at half snapon price

Re: new torque wrench (teng or kincrome)
Not a huge issue, but the Teng 1/4" drive doesn't go as low as the Kinchrome. We have an application that requires 3.5Nm - the Teng doesn't go that low.
Re: new torque wrench (teng or kincrome)
The cat torques are made at the same place and the hold the same warranty but that is where there likeness ends. All the internals of the cat ones are made of a much cheaper metal and is affected more by the temperature then the snappy one. The +\- of the cat is .8* the snappy is .5* that gap gets much larger in warmer climates.starky wrote:try caterpillar there tools are very well priced (not like their spare parts )

The old (up to nov/10) generation snappy Atech digital ones had a .18* +\- in the middle 80% of it's working torque range. The new generation have a maximum +\- of .15 at any temperature and it had the new 80 tooth fine tooth gear in the head.
That said I believe the Atech as already said is big time overkill for anyone not living off it.
In my toolbox at home I have a Matco (from memory they are teng) 1/2. A snapon 3/8 click style. 1/4 snapon click and beam style.
Bang for buck in a backyard/shed look for teng
