Batteries

Post by thehanko »

I need a new cranking battery... and deep cycle.

Ive been researching alot but need some clarification on a few things.

The dual battery system in the patrol is of little use to me as i don't run any static accessories like a fridge - so my plan is to forget it and leave it disconnected as they deteriorate over time and its money for nothing in my case.

Whats the go with calcium batteries? most seem to be advertising this but i read somewhere these are a deep cycle / crank battery cross over and don't like winching? Is this correct?

I'm looking at cheaper batteries unless convinced otherwise. such as ssb or delko.

also what is a dry charged battery? I was assuming it was a battery not yet filled with acid so it can be couriered easier? is this correct.

I have had a supercharge battery until now which has just decided to throw in the towel.

I might also be able to get optima batterys at wholesale prices - though i don't know what price as yet. are they worth the extra money?

what is an agm battery?

thanks for the help.

lol, I don't think so. I doubt it would be worth much so i'm probably better off leaving it in the truck.

Cheers

Ill get this moved to autoelectrical section. There is already a heap of information there about most of your questions.
George Carlin, an American Comedian said; "Think of how stupid the average person is, and realise that half of them are stupider than that".
