from what i understand you go to your main battery that all your accessories already run off so that you still have your start battery if you stall it

it has to be run off a cranking battery, not a deep cycle battery. thats the important part.

I have always run it off my main cranking battery as the alternator always supply's charge to this battery first in a dual set up with isolators and second battery's are often deep cycles batteries which will fail under high draw usages.

Make sure you get a keyed isolator switch with the skirts
Jaycar have them cheap
itll stop the story of the guy who went into the pub and came out to find his car cut in half
due to a winch being live all the time
the skirts stop mud and water

Well the story goes
man goes to pub
farkwit goes to the front of fourby
puts winch into nutral runs out winch rope over the roof of said fourby connects it to towbar then shorts out winch which then retracts and cuts said fourby in half
putting a isolater switch stops winch being live all the time and meens said bad man has to break into car and find key then open bonnet then connect key then do it

When you say cable is on the wrong way do you mean its feeding from either the top or bottom of the drum or, when you hit winch out the cable actually gets fed onto the drum?

is it design to run 1 way ?
do i need to take the cable out and rewind it the other way? because it runs
the opposite way from the arrow direction?
or will it be alright to run the opposite way?

It is designed to only run one way cause the brake only works one way. Maybe you need to flip your winch over or end for end

so there is actually problems running a winch from a deep cycle?

I'd like to know before I put mine in, cause I have a yellow top, i thought those batteries were meant to be pretty good...?

Deep Cycle is designed for low load for a long time.

Cranking is designed for high load for a short time.

My understanding is its to do with the plate design, deep cycle has less plates which are thicker plates for a longer and slower reaction and cranking batteries have slim plates but lots of them for high surface area for fast and lots of reaction.

Someone might be able to define it better than that.

Just because a battery is good doesn't mean it will do what its not designed for.
