GQ wheel size, Offset and tyres????

Post by showtime393 »

This has prob been covered in here a few times but I'm not getting the answers i want from search.
I'm currently running 15x8 sunraiser's, 35x12.5 silverstone extremes and 4 inch lift. I have also cut my front and rear guards back a little over 2 inches.

Being so high, i feel it is getting a little top heavy, I have been considering putting on some 10inch wide rims and some more road friendly mudies (BFG's, MTR's, Bighorns). My question is, Will this give me enough width to get that stabitily back?
I seen a GQ today with Bunnings style flares and rims that nearly came out to meet the flares. Looked awsome and solid as.

Should i try a 10inch rim and if its not enough buy spacers? Or should I buy lancruiser offset rims in a 10inch?
Will having my guards cut back just over 2inches be enough to clear 35x10's with landcruiser offset?

I'm definately going to put on bigger flares.
Does anyone have a better option than bunnings flares? They are looking like the only option at the moment.

Just did my brothers gq. 60 series cruiser black sunrasia rims 16 x 8 and flexi flare ( search eBay). Will post some pics when I get home this arvo. His has a 6 inch lift and tyres meet the flares. Only had to chop the rear guard slightly at the back so with yours should be fine.
93 RV, 5 in tough dog lift, dobinsons shocks and coils, PA, dual fuel, many many oil leaks and a ton of character.

the 10inch rims have an offset most of the time of -44, 15x8/16x8 -22 so you are changing the width just with going to the different rim. i doubt you will need spacers with a 10inch rim to get the look you are after.

Ok maybe I should have been more specific. Thanks for the replies. I already have 8 inch sunraisures and 65mm flexi flares.
I want to go bigger flares and wider. Will 10inch rims be enough to come out and meet 100mm bunnings flares? Or will the flares stick a mile past the tyres and look stupid? Should i get a landcruiser rim in a 10inch or stick with 10inch rims for a patrol? I know the offset will be different between an 8 inch patrol rim and a 10inch patrol rim but will i get an even bigger offset if I use 10 wide with a cruiser offset? Or will this be to much offset?
Just wanna do the right research and buy once.
Seein as I'm buying rims and tyres, Is there any benifit or handicap if I get 16ich rims?

It seems everyone knows the answers here but no one is really saying. If this has been discussed to many times on here, Why isnt it in sticky?
