Post by 91Mav »

I just ordered some right hand drive hysteer arms from trail-gear.com on special for $70 US. Postage is $55 US. Thought some of u Lux, 40, 60 and 75 owners might like to know...

That's cheap as. Had a look Might have to order a set what drag link are you going to use. Still use original tie rod?

I bought em for my next 60 which I'll spring over. The standard tie rod can be retained and in a SOA Cruiser, so can the drag link. As they are up and out-of-the-way, there's less chance of bending them. I'll end up running some Chromoly tube with the ends tapped to accept 80 series TRE's.

Thats crazy. Although I would be a little concerned that this is going to be an untill sold out sale. It sounds like they have made a lot of RH drive arms and they are not selling. They prob wont make any more. Would also explain why they have never bothered to make the 6 shooter arms in RH drive as well.

Think i might put an order in too. What do people think the strength of these would be in comparison to billet hi steer arms such as the ones marlin crawler sell?

According to Locktup4x4, "Each arm is pressure Forged from 8620 tool steel, these arms are incredibly strong". I imagine the billet arms would be slightly stronger and they're on special for $199 US at the moment. The trail-gear arms will be stronger than I'll ever need though

Does it actually work out any cheaper than the full highsteer kit for $300us?
I mean once you buy a new drag link, tie rod, ptman arm aswell is it still that cheap?

??? The drag link and tie rod would need to be free for it to be "still that cheap".

The reason postage is only $55 is because it's light but mostly because it can be packaged into a small box for freight. Add the drag link and tie rod and the packaged sizes is now 10x longer. It would likely bring the freight up to $200 (still, with the $300 kit price would still be plenty cheaper than you could buy it in Aus).

Personally, I'll be buying some tube, tap the ends and run 80 series TRE's like I said in a previous ^ post. It'll end up cheaper and stronger than getting them from the US or locally.

I had a look at the complete hi steer kit from foothill off road (ebay) they quoted $252 freight to Queensland just for an indicator for the other guys ...
Bring in a total of $579.00 delivered .. I pity the aus resellers

yes they will, the reason they state that is the fact that 86 on trucks in the USA are all IFS.

They took 9 days after I payed for freight. Because they send them through USPS, you can track em on the net.

I got them last week. Was gonna post a pic but didn't see the point as they're everywhere on the net. They're bloody huge! I can't imagine anyone ever damaging one of these arms - at least not before the studs then swivel hubs.

Newbie Question,
What exactly do you do once you have the High steer arms RE tie rods and drag links? Superior tie rod and drag links are $300 EACH for the cheap versions. so you might as well buy the kit from locktup 4x4.
How are you going about getting a new tie rod and drag link at the correct length?

I was told i would need one, but so far have had no issues and lift has been on for 4yrs now.....

Cheers Mav,
I think i've read the above, and perhaps my question wasn't particularly clear, or i can't read. You indicated the original Tierod and drag link could be used for a SOA crusier (80 series?) or you could fabricate new ones from tube. As I'm converting a Hilux, Is it possible to use the original linkages from the hilux going from standard to High steer? If not, how do you find the correct lengths?

Just a suggestion without meaning to offend. Perhaps have someone else write your next email. It's very hard to figure out WTF you are saying in your posts here. I can only imagine your emails are similar. Or call them?

I imagine customs had a lot to do with that. Especially being over $1000. I received mine very quickly.

coopster wrote:no the email only ask how much to get them to aus and my address that it i got one asking my address with no reponse yet
They'd be too busy to answer every "how much for postage?" question they receive, considering that maybe half those enquiries would end in a sale. The serious people place an order. The dreamers only ask questions. After I placed an order, they got back to me about postage $ within 12 hours.

Ps. Did you happen to send me a text message yesterday that read, "Hello Moble N. User, This Mobile Number Have WON 450,000 Pounds From BackBerry MN Promo. To Get Prize send ÄBB-MN11) to: (bbmnprize@msn.com)"?

If it was the first time yes maybe, but not the 10th odd time. There is a group that all order together and have spent over $10k with them and are now all looking else were as they have been nothing but hassles and a run around
