hey guys stupid question bout suspension my missus thinks u can lift a coil sprung 4by just buy putting bigger shocks under neath it and i am ova aguring haha can u tell her the answer plz ? cheers

NO. Just shocks won't do it. But a set of 37" tyres will lift it.... :D

Your missus is right, and you are a doofus :finger:

It's the steel coil spring that is absorbing the shock of bumps in the road.

the 'shock absorber' as everybody thinks they know it is actually dampening the compressing and expanding motion of the steel spring, as left to it's own devices will not return to it's static position.

So yeh, stick in some bigger springs and instant lift.

Technically speaking, gas pressure shock absorbers will lift your ride height.

Actually measuring the difference could be tricky.

your misses is right, you jam 18inch travel shocks into a standard 4x4. When they bottom out you will have around 6 inches of lift.

The coils and or coil spacers will give the lift not the shocks, take this from a guy who managed to convince his other half to allow him to fit 2" taller springs to her 100 series and leave the same shocks in place.
