Factory ecu would dominate just about any aftermarket for processing power.

The downside is, lackluster logging ability. And thats what all the race classes need.
I think you would be surprised to know just how many of the circuit and rally cars now run standard ecu's with ecutek tunes rather than full aftermarket though.

IMO regardless of the ecu, on a diesel or petrol or methanol burning motor.it has this much air, You fire in this much fuel at this point, ignite it at this point (on petty motors) and you will make the same power regardless of the chosen method of control.

Well on the ECU front - we'll just have to agree to disagree.

As per brute power - your also spot on the money, the old continuous flow mechanical systems proove that brute power can be quite "simply" achived.
However, if you've ever tried to make one idle nicely and drive around town, you'll appreciate that much of the sophistication in ECU technology brings tractibility not absolute power.

This has significant benifits for the overall performance of the vehicle.... a medium power tractable vehicle will in most situations be far quicker then a cantannkerous "grunter"

That's were the ability to include modifiers into the strategy really shines... the Bosch racing ECU's are a good example of the sophistication and tractability possible when the engines
performance is correctly modeled ( not mapped btw....).

It seemed like a much better idea when I started it than it does now.

The motec option is a "future development" anyway isn't it? So, the point is moot. Of the available options it sounds to me like a tweaked factory unit is the only realistic way to go.

If they are in Canada, the only VNT they'll know about is the VW TDi's. I think Europe is the only place to find that expertise, with the bonus that they have used cores to build turbos from. The prices in europe are a bargain if you're earning Euro or Sterling.
I thought na they rock what are you talking about so I jumped on there website and yep only one rebuilt VW VNT oh well I tried.

You are not going to get a better offer than this.
On another front to all watching not this weekend but probably the next I am going to put all the wiring harness back together as best I can and plug every thing onto engine.

The engine is still in the chassis rails to keep it rolling, so I will use a bit of white malimine and throw harness over it then try an spread it all out marking what I know disconecting what I know doesnt need be there and rejoining what does I will go as far as I can.

I have spoken to steve and he is happy to help, but needs it all there naturaly of course, so hence above to help keep hours down, and help with transporting etc. so I will keep this updated as it progresses.

yes its a shame I was very excited but it come down to two factor

1. over kill in hi tech and expence for a 4x4 that maybe drowned first run ??.

2. neighborhood dispute making working on cars at home, very difficult meaning trailering it to mates house every time i wanted to do more work.

so i am selling heaps of sh!t off and thinking of moving as a bigger importance.
