I had a powertrax Lockright in the front of My GQ and while it lasted it was great for traction, only problem is they are yank designed and not for a heavy GQ patrol by for the rear diff's in Pathfinders. Unfortunatly i blew my powertrax up completly, so now i am going to install the 4WD Systems locka, Aussie made and lifetime warranty
Now as for how it drives compared to an Air locker based, when the auto locker is under engine load it locks up and won't unlock until the torque is off the diff enough to allow the differential action, under breaking down hill without the engine doing al the work it unlocks just fine.
If you go down hill under engine breaking and disengage the air locker it still stays locked in and is JUST as hard to steer as the Auto locker.

The only problem with Lokka is that its cheap copy of the Rockright, they don't disengage as smoothly and they are noisy also, which is weird as they both look simular in design but my lockright has never made a single noise and is hardly noticeable in L4. Take a 4x4 fitted with lokka for 4x4 before you buy, you will be surpised in the difference between the two, maybe detroit might be better option for you.

There are some fairly significant reasons that the Lokka is cheaper than the Detroits! You WILL notice that it is there, all the time, and the engage/disengage IS a fairly savage operation. They have a reputation (and in my experience, a well deserved reputation) for taking out other sections of the drive-line when they fail, which they tend to do way more frequently than the Detroits! And don't even start me on 4WD Systems!!
The Lockrights and Powertrax have gone someway towards addressing the issues, and as a result are a much better option than the Lokka and for very little extra money! The Powertrax Extreme is a very useable unit, with similar dampening features to the SofLocker, but still not as 'civilised' in its' operation as the Detroit is. But if your vehicle isn't the family car or a daily driver on the blacktop, and doesn't spend too much time in the city or driving in traffic, you will certainly be able to put up with the shortfalls in exchange for the vast improvement in traction.

I think mine is a Lokka (not 100% sure though, bought it 2nd hand in the centre).
It drives exactly like you describe your Lockright Sim. I rarely notice it's there, it doesn't effect the steering and it's smooth in it's action. The only time it has gotten me in trouble is trying to make tight turns uphill in the mud or loose dirt. You can't idle around, you have to drive it with some throttle otherwise it will plough straight on like any locked centre will.
