about cruiser utes??

hi guys im looking at getting a cruiser ute and want to know about them

1) petrol or deisel?
2) suspension that works - coil conversion or worked leaf suspension
3) and what to do/what not to do with that

if anyone could shed some light and what is good and what works that would be very helpful!

Go the 79 (coil front) the cab is a bee's dick longer so the seat reclines a little bit more. Buy the lowest klm example you can afford that has been looked after. Check it's not an ex mine car.

Lot of debate about turbo'ing one. Seem to crack a few heads plus the gearbox is the smaller series than the factory turbo variant. But they seem to do the job ok. Good to drive unloaded but loaded and non turbo they are a bit of a slug but liveable.

brought a 79s about 1 year ago.
looked at the 75s landcuisers. if your really tall, like myself. the extra space in the 79s cab makes a huge differents on long drive with that bit more leg room.

prepare to dislocate your spine on 75s if the suspension has been sent up for heavy loads and because there leaf suspension. the coils always win over the leaves.

diesels if there 1hz prepare for the slow hill climbs, unless u can afford a 1hd-fte in the later 79s, basically the best diesel out there.

older pretrol models will guzzle the fuel.

awsome truck for touring and weekend off roading. 33" tyres, 2" lift and lock the rear they go really well.

get one with a steel tray.. yes it makes differents in the long run.

anyone got there 75's flexing? or even 79's..would love to know what ur running etc..
having trouble finding low km cruisers ay..let me know if you know anyone sellin a nice ute

I recently purchased a 1999 75 Series Landcruiser Ute 1HZ Diesel Motor, Slow up hills, Good on fuel 13L/100km. Paid 21k for it 193,000km on the clock up here in Qld there pretty hard to find especially ones that havn't been owned by the mines or flogged the guts out of it. My dads mate had a petrol version in a 93' model it loved the fuel.. between 18-25L/100

Also if your buying in Qld make sure it has not been a park rangers car and spent it life in the salt water....
