2011 GXL Landcruiser Ute v8 - Speedo correction box

Post by stewk »

Hi Guys,
First post on the site so be gentle.

I have recently up rated my tyre size and wish to correct the speedo error.
I purchased a speedo correction box from Mark's Adaptor's a MFK1180U to suit the car. My question is relating to the wiring diagram to suit my car.
Has anybody wired one before or have some clues for me in regards to wiring it up. It has a basic manual but no wire colour designations on the car side (VSS).

Thanks

Firstly what was the tyre size of the original and what is the new tyre size.

You may not need a correction box if the difference is less than about 5-10% (per ADR reg: +0%/-10%), as that is usually about the amount the speedo are set low, ie 100 km/h indicated = 90-100 km/h real. You should not be pinged if the speedo shows 100 for 100, but you will be pinged for showing 100 while doing 105 (as you already know).

I've gone from original GXL tyres to 285/75/16. I did a quick test with my GPS and it's about 107kph actual when the speedo shows 100.
I know it's not a massive difference, but enough to annoy me. The box is pretty simple and obviously interfaces between the VSS and speedo.
I could bell the wiring out with my multimeter, but thought someone may have the actual wiring colour codes already, which would save me some time!

Cheers
