electric water pumps
Im about to fit up a W/A intercooler and am just getting all the bits together. What water pumps have people used and where is the best place to get them?
At the moment im leaning towards the Davies Craig EWP80 (80L/min), for reliability. Does anyone have any suggestions otherwise or is this a good choice?

Need more information on your intercooler setup? Size of cooler, radiator, etc etc

im running the EWP80 with my laminova setup, i had one failure, sucking air in through the seal, but had it replaced under warranty, after i worked out what was going on. its possible i buggered it from not having a bleed point in my system, either way, they replaced it.
got mine for just on 160 from repco, talked them into giving me trade price, then got a trade application form.
i reckon if you say you heard you could get them for around 160 they will do their best to get close to that.
supercheap asked me what car it came out of, and autobarn were dearer and didnt wanna talk price.

its an ebay cooler but its big. 12"x10"x4" core. not exactly sure on the radiator yet but i was just gonna go to the wreckers and get one with a set of thermo's already on it. Probably out of a large 4cyl/small 6. It will be mounted on the side of the tray most likely. My thinking is that if that radiator can keep an engine cool it should keep the intercooler liquid cool enough (is this theory sound??)

I have the one from frozen boost as well, on a system that holds around 7lts of water, the rad core size is 600x300x25mm the core i got was 320x200x100mm.
The first real test it got was a run up the park towing my camper ( bit over 1tone ) and on 35's up the range the pyro got to 500degC i pulled up at the top of the range and put my hand on the core and it was cold to touch. You don't want the water moving to fast ore to slow it would be good if you could speed up the flow if you needed though...

Davies craig pumps are the way to go i believe,Good warranty and made from good materials.
If they run too fast for your liking you can regulate them down,some even come in a package for around 200 and its an electronic speed controller.Very good value IMO

It looks like the perfect thing to use however the lowest temp setting you can use is 75 deg C. That is far too hot, is there anything else similar to that with infinately variable settings?

Does your radiator coolent overflow feed into the intercooler???

Yeah i haven't had a chance to make a over flow for the IC system yet

I run my overflow into my engine coolant over flow, no problem with it, its the same stuff anyway.
I have no issues with the bosch pump and flow rate, it flows plenty, I run a 4''x6'' PWR barrel and 14'' x 1'' thick PWR radiator core. I dont run a temperature controller, the pump is always running, it is switchable, when I go to the snow I turn it off till the engine reaches operating temperature.

The water pump will be the last part of the system. You need to get all your other parts before the pump. What size lines are you running, How much water in the system. Whats the truck used for, because a long course outback truck will need a different system to a short course winch truck. What are the goals you are trying to achieve? Do you want to hold it flat at max rpm for 5-10mins. How much boost, Radiator size. This all needs to be factored into your system design. And ultimately the water pump you decide.
