Is there such a thing as a rear oilpan/sump for the D-4D?

Post by Winch »

Hi guys

I'm putting the 3.0 D-4D Hilux 1KD-FTV engine into my truck. Due to the fact that I have a solid front axle, I have switched the oilpan front to back (by re-drilling the holes), but would like to find a matching pick-up tube. I see that there are already mounting holes for such a pick-up tube for the rear on the bottom of the block, so I assume there must be some of these 1KD's that has the sump in the rear. Does anyone perhaps know if the Hiace, Prado or any of these came with the main oilpan sump in the rear? Thanks. Gary

Hmm i think Hiace might be rear sump but I'll check tomorrow at work and see if I can find one to have a squiz at.

Hey thanks, I really appreciate that. Someone also mentioned that those trucks that had the 1KZ-TE engine has a rear sump, because the blocks are the same. I think they were in the KJ70's, but I'm not sure if the mounting flange on the block is at an angle or horizontal. My mounting flange on the 1KD is horizontal.
