ive heard that cheesy is plannin on fabin up tube bars to suit the 75 series toyota land cruisers..... can anyone verify this????

Well...other things have already impeded the headlights, including the mud inside the housing

Anyways, whatever you do, make sure you stay tucked, small, light, strong, and multi-attached... :finger:

that's a real tidy looking bar sam, i just wish i had the $$ to buy one off ya, lol. might try and make one like the light duty bar... what kinda tube do ya use in it?

This is a light duty bar made from a few 2" & 3" pipe off cuts from the scrap bin, to replace plastic bar on coily with 31s

heres mine... made out of 1/4 inch thick steel! :twisted:

that bar took on 2 trees one on each side and pushed them away from the rig so i could squeeze through..... :oops:

bar takes a heep of a beating and the most i've come out of it was merely a scratch! nothing i couldnt touch up.... if you want more pics i'll go ahead and snap a few.....

zol's bar looks awesome... i recently made friends with a dude that has a tube bender (convenient eh?

), and we're gonna adapt that style to my zook (we = him really :roll:

). hopefully it'll get done in the next month, and i'll put some pics up

yeah it's nice. i like it a lot. but to duplicate it well, is pretty time consuming. lots of cosmetic things that would take attention to detail.

I'm pretty sure zol just used a bow and arrow style pipe bender as pictured below, can be had for $200 from plenty of tool suppliers etc. The bar itself is made from galvanised water pipe, which whilst welding made zol very sick...lesson for all, wear breathing apparatus [sp?] whilst welding galvanised metal. If you take your time, use lubricant and most of all get some Dawn dye's, these benders can be quite good for doing your own stuff, but you'll soon get the $hits if you're using one regularly.

:Edit: The one below is NOT one of the ones for $200, but gives you an idea of the style. Any gasweld or decent tool shop in your area should be able to get you in one, they're usually red.... i'd go take a pic of mine that's collecting dust in the garage but my beer'd get warm :lol:

Hmmmm.....

I got told those kind of benders will cause what's called "kinking" or "wall fold"

How do you prevent that?

Or is that entirely dependent on the pipe wall thickness?

Dependant on the type/radius of the "Die" (sp?) used.

We use a "Dawn" brand 'die', (bought it from Blackwoods, roughly $2-300 per die as a very rough guide), and it has a larger bend radius (when compared to cheaper die sets), as well as a snug fit around the pipe to support it during the bending process.

had to remove the grill to fit the lights without having the bar sticking out too far or having an odd angle on the top bit. just gotta cut a bit into the grill and it'll all go back on sweet
