70 series diff?

Post by V.W.Dave »

I had a quick search and cant find that diff guide that was on the general tech section a few months ago.

Basically I am looking to find out how wide a set of diffs are off a early 90s 70 series leaf sprung ute. Are they the same as a 80???? (small front diff large back)

Thanks

They are narrower than a 80 and 60 but wider than a 40

So they have the full size diff like the 60? What knuckles are on them? Lux/40/60 or $#ity 80s?

Front small diff like the 80 with lux knuckles. Different than the 60 knuckles again. 4 stud top and bottom

Bingo. About 90 is where they went from HJ to HZJ and also changed the diff IIRC. Mine is 91 and came with HZJ and hi pinion front. Regardless of what people tell you the landcruiser front hi pinion is NOT the same as a hilux. Yes they have the same R and P size and yes they both use a RD23 airlocker, but there ARE some differences from what i've gleaned both off here and off IH8MUD. From what i gather they're slightly stronger than a lux diff.
