HID Lights

Wanting to upgrade my IPF 800 & 900 series spotties to 100w HID.
Can anyone plz give me some tips or stories of wether they r any good. thanks

I've had HID's in both my car lights and the Ironman HID's. Once you go to HID you'll hate driving on standard lighting. I did so much I bought a set for my '07 Impreza and the improvements are outstanding.

i converted my 800's and they are great. With a nice even spread and good penetration . and from what i remember of the 900s i had years ago they'd be good to . mine are 55w 6000k i got them off ebay after returning a jaycar kit because they wouldn't fit , the globes were to long and hit the housing . the Ebay seller 95soarer was very helpful telling me which kit was the right one with shorter globes . the kit was $139 with free shipping and arrived 2 days later. when i opened it the instructions were for the ipf 900s . I sent a msg saying as much and he promptly repied that the kit was right and only the instructions were wrong. the correct instructions arrived the next day. But once i knew they'd fit i went ahead and put them in . i mounted the ballasts externally but when the proper instructions came i saw that they will fit internally and with no modifications (I drilled the wiring hole out to get the joiners through then used a couple of grommets and the supplied silastic to seal them up). so just make sure you specify which lights they are and you'll be sweet . I did find another seller on a different forum that said he had kits to suit as well but after several unreturned PMs and a website adress that didn't work i gave up on him and found a recomendation for 95soarer via a google search. hope this helps.

The only tip i can give you is, make sure the "filliment" on the HID bulb which looks like a bubble, that contains the xenon sits where the original filliment did in the old bulb. So if the old bulbs filliment stuck out 40mm from where it was mounted the HID's xenon "bubble" should be in the same location.
Also a h7 bulb should be alright for a conversion.

it was the other end of the globes that were to long as in the wires hit the inside of the housing about 1/4 " before the reflector seated .Also I don't think H7 would fit as the original globe is a H3 which have a different mounting pattern . Mine are H3 they are a tight fit but work.

H7's come in two different styles as well. Very thin rectangular type/style lower body like that of a H3, and also as a round 20mm plastic base.
Be careful which one you buy.
