Re: Project Chop!
Hi Glen,
So I see you came out OK and the earthquake didn't get you, EH LOL and you have got around to doing a bit more on the Pajota, there doesn't seem much more to be done to it, SO when is it going to get its christening, to iron out any minor faults, anyhow Glen you crack on and take care mate, nice to see you around again. Jack.

Re: Project Chop!
Small update, loads of wiring done, more to come - all takes time!!!
Gear lever hole filled in...
Sidebars are attached but not welded to side runners yet as be easier to paint vehicle with them off.
Set up centre control panel with fuses
Passenger switchgear
Gauges all done and working, came up pretty well really
Driving lights done with relay. Switch in centre panel to control them or high beam.
Just waiting on a water tank to hook up my second windscreen washers.
Been trying to hook up a second switch to the wipers but they are not playing ball and it has me properly stumped.
Picked up an air tank for the onboard air, just need to plumb that in to the a\c pump with a presure switch.

Re: Project Chop!
Hooked the steering up and bled the brakes and made an exhaust.
Drove it out of the shed
But I have a misfire, so have taken the inlet manifold chamber off to get the fuel injectors to get them cleaned. Hopefully thats what it is.
Oh and a rear brake is binding, clutch needs adjusting and a host of other things

Re: Project Chop!
Well, Iv'e just managed to catch up with your last post, of you out giving the Pavlova its birthday run, well done, question, are you going to bother Rego'ing it, or just going to trailer it to and from outings, cant really see the need to bother, making it all legal, seeing your just useing it for off roading and just think, about the savings, no rego, no insurance, certainly worth concidering, dont you think ???? .
You never came back and give us your findings as to what you thought about its birthday run, are you happy with it, have you any doubts about its caperbilitys on this minor run, lets hear your thoughts on the subject and thanks for putting the short run on video, Jack.

Re: Project Chop!
Yes I have thought about not making it legal but I want to be able to put it on the road. Rego $300 ish, Insurance $500 ish, WOF $100. So not really big costs in the scheme of things compared to having to trailer it. Many of our trips involve road driving too.

rego for me is like $400
green slip third party insurance over $500
pink slip safety check $45
insurance is extra for me cost nearly $1200

Re: Project Chop!
quick question what did you do with the rear suspension? Did you leave it with the standard set up of pajero 3 link, only lifted coils/shocks?
I'm just asking as I'm in the middle of cutting up my red '92 LWB 3.0L GLS NJ
I'm finding your build up very helpful
mine will be an extra cab & I'm using built up hilux diffs. hilux transfer(with reduction gears), commodore V6 & auto box

Re: Project Chop!
Yep, the rear suspension is standard at this stage! I'll just see how it goes and run from there. They are standard SWB coil springs!!! With all the weight gone it it sitting pretty high, the front mounts on the rear trailing mounts are a donut and don't like be lifted much, the more you lift a Paj, the less it will flex because of this. I'd say stick with your standard ones and see how you go. Are you using built up rear hilux as well?

Re: Project Chop!
The paj I'm cutting up is my 3rd gen 2 LWB so I know a fair bit about how the rear acts when lifted I've only ever done 3" max lift in the rear using GQ coils & it was fine(plenty of flex with the sway bars removed) just light binding on the front bush mounts of the rear radius arms.NJV6 wrote:Yep, the rear suspension is standard at this stage! Yes I'm using built up F&R Hilux diffs, I'm building the paj for winch comp use & will retain the pajero 3 link rear end like you've done only I'll be changing the radius arm mounts to heim joints to stop the binding & either a 3 link + panhard front end with coils or GQ/GU set up with X-link
Also it just so happens that the paj I'm building up is also red(factory colour), it's a '92 3L LWB NJ GLS
