1FZ-FE Problems

Post by vandle »

Hi

HAVE A FZJ75 WITH A 1FZ-FE 4.5 PETROL ON DUAL FUEL. ENGINE STARTS FINE AND IDLES NO PROBLEM FOR ABOUT A MINUTE, THEN RUNS ROUGH AND STOPS (BOTH ON PETROL AND LPG). CAN START IMMEDIATELY AND IT DOES THE SAME THING. DID SELF DIAGNOSTIC ON THE ECU AND NOTHING COMES UP. HAVE JUST REPLACED THE O2 SENSOR AND SORTED OUT THE AIRFLOW METER. I'M COMING TO THE CONCLUSION THAT IT IS SUCKING IN AIR SOMEWHERE. AM I ON THE RIGHT TRACK OR IS POSSIBLE IT MAY BE SOMETHING ELSE.
iT HAS NEW PLUGS,LEADS,DIZZY CAP AND ROTOR.

When mine did something similar, I found the bit of flex pipe going from the afm to the intake manifold had a large split in it, taped it up till I could get another one.

Thanks for the info, checked the main inlet air hose but thats fine. I will work back through the system, I suspect an air leak somewhere between the afm and throttle body

Could possibly be the gas control module playing up. Check all the electrical connections might have a poor connection or corrosion. Switch off the gas so it doesn't try to change over automaticaly and see if it will then keep running on petrol.

Hey mate how did you go with this, I am having a very similar problem with mine at the moment nrma reckon its a manifold leak so gonna check that tommorrow, a bloke at work said it might be my air flow meter. how did you rule this out on yours. Mine is dual fuel aswell but runs the same on petrol

Spray a bit of aerostart onto the suspected areas. If idle increases, you have a vacuum leak.

My brothers patrol did the same thing his was a wire for the gas module had shorted out tested his by bypassing gas module to run straight petrol again. Then off to gas mechanic. To find and fix wire
