Hey FWIW,
I ran 15/30mm spacers + Strut top flip with 235/75 BFG ATs with no dramas.
Now running 15/30 spacers + OME with 235/75 BFG ATs, no dramas, but I haven't done much with it.
On a side note, the BFG ATs, are almost done after 70,000 kms, 95% of which is on road. My mates Surf with Coopers ATs (or whatever they call them) look like they haven't been used, but have done at least as many kms as me, on a bigger car... I'll be trying coopers next time

vitara lift and tyres Q & A
Re: vitara lift and tyres Q & A
vr commodore shocks??? most prob too long as vl shocks are way too long and the springs will fall out all the time..
i have 30mm spacers in front which give 60mm lift, and 50mm spacers in the back
50mm strut spacers in the front with standard struts
50mm longer rear shocks from ironman in the rear.
i run 31s with no probs, only snapped 1 cv in about 3 years... but over 15 rear axels(so i do drive it hard and dropping the struts 50mm have not affected the front cvs)
this setup works fine for me...

Re: vitara lift and tyres Q & A
I've got 15mm spacers in the front, 30mm in the rear. 2" Tough Dog springs and shocks, and a front diff drop bracket. I run 31" muddies. I push it very hard to try to keep up with twin locked Patrols on 35s. I'm twin locked and have lots of bash plates and crawler gears.
I've broken 3 CVs in about 2 years. It goes fine although the crawler gears are a bit low. At full revs in 4th gear it does about 23klm/hr which is a little slow on easy tracks. Overall I'm happy with it.

Re: vitara lift and tyres Q & A
Will the 235/75/15 fit on the stock wheels legally?
Re: vitara lift and tyres Q & A
do know if they will be legal but the fit no problems. if you get pulled up for them chances are thats going to be the least of your problems

Re: vitara lift and tyres Q & A
I see. I have the same model as the OP, 1990 Vit SWB Soft top. I've bought coil spaces, 30mm rear and 15mm front.zook4fun wrote:do know if they will be legal but the fit no problems. if you get pulled up for them chances are thats going to be the least of your problems
The car needs a pink slip and I was going to ask the mechanic to fit the spaces and flip the front strut mounts also.
Am I going to look like an idiot if I ask them to do this, or is it all above board? At this time the car will still have stock wheels and tyres.
Re: vitara lift and tyres Q & A
Do it your self, if you can change a tyre you can put some spacers in. donr know if they are against the law but i have never been pulled up with 50 mm spacers all round that are bright red

Re: vitara lift and tyres Q & A
Have got the 30 and 15mm spacers in. Now I'm hunting down some 235/75/15 MTs to go on the stock wheels.
At this stage the Hercules Trail Digger's look like the ones. I'm happy with a cheap set as the car is only driven for 4WD trips with no commuting.
Do you know of any cheaper muddies?
