Jackaroo U8 Olympic Edition or Land Rover Discovery TD5

Post by pearldiver »

Guys I would like to know your opinion on which among this two would be a better choice. I have a budget of $10,000 and I have been googling around for a used SUV
and so far the 4x4 that fit in that rage are the 1999 Jackaroo U8 Olympic Edition ( 3.0 diesel ) and 2000 Land Rover Discovery TD5 ( Diesel ).

I have read in other forums that Land Rover is quite expensive to maintain here in Australia ( Cost of Parts ) , but if you could source out the parts online overseas that will fix the problem.
...About the Jackaroo, I have learned that there are some issues with its injector....which makes it very expensive to fix

Considered a Pajero? Pathfinder? 4Runner/Surf? all are below the $10K level for 10 yr old vehicles.

Spend half an hour in each models section here to get an idea about strengths and weaknesses.

AFAIK Jacks are thirsty in the V6 and have reliability issues with the 3l diesel.

There are far more than just the two you have selected

You won't find a SUV in Australia.

He's having a go at your terminology.

My advice, don't get too close to the enclosure. He has been known to fling his own faeces.....

But back to the OP,
Yeah steer clear of the jackapoo's, the 3lt aren't what you'd call bullet proof and when they do break down they're anything but foolproof!

Dunno about the disco's
