Forward shift/top shift transfer levers - hilux
Hi just wondering if anyone knows if the forward shift transfer case lever/gearstick will mount into the top shift transfer case base/cradle?
So instead of buying a complete new lever for ~130 dollars delivered I can buy the base (http://www.lowrangeoffroad.com/index.ph ... rts-2.html" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;) for around $50 delivered and cannibalise one of the forward shift levers I have sitting around and fit it to the top shift transfer base to save a few dollars.
Does that make sense to anyone? Has anyone done this? if anyone has a top shift transfer lever they want to sell me it would make this a whole lot easier too.
Cheers

Re: Forward shift/top shift transfer levers - hilux
The levers between the forward shift gear driven case and the chain driven (non add) case appear to be the same with the same flange pattern/size but with changing from a G52 to an r150f gearbox I have been forced to change the transfer to a top shift case with the new rails. The new hole ontop the transfer where the shifter is supposed to bolt to, which was previously a blocked off plate, has a different flange pattern/size and won't take either of the above gear sticks.
I'm about 70% sure this can be fixed by either getting a top shift gearstick/cradle complete or get the above cradle only to suit top shift transfer pattern and use the gear stick part from one of the above options.

BUT!!!!!!!
the stick is different, the ball section of the stick there's a pin that slides in between the shiftier rails.. the forward shift pin is shorter by about 10mm from memory....
i just bought the Trail gear twin stick setup (i couldn't not bothered stuffing around, and i had one in stock) I attached a air ram to each lever so the lowrange lever wont jump out when going down a steep hill, (even with the heavy duty Dtent kit) as ive bolted a gear driven xfer to the A343 auto

Re: Forward shift/top shift transfer levers - hilux
Hey cheers mate, if I wasn't such a tightarse I would go the twin sticks straight away. Provided the ball of the lever seats in the cradle fine I can work with it being 10mm short I think by just cutting and welding in an extension on the shaft before the knub, do you see any problems doing this?

Re: Forward shift/top shift transfer levers - hilux
I got the top shift conversion kit B and it worked a treat, however the block off plate didnt fit the bolt pattern for the front hole.
I think I have a top shifter & base laying around, I'll try and dig it out if your after one

I just remembered that the forward shift bolt PCD is different to the top shiftUhhOhh wrote:Hi just wondering if anyone knows if the forward shift transfer case lever/gearstick will mount into the top shift transfer case base/cradle?

Re: Forward shift/top shift transfer levers - hilux
so using the original lever and base won't work? It's looking like I might have to just buy the cradle from the states.
