I got some of Marlin's 27 spline CV's (http://www.marlincrawler.com/axle/front ... -27-spline" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;) a few weeks ago and thought I'd compare them to OE CV's in case any one is interested. They ended up costing $305 AU landed when the $ was a few cents stronger. I am in no way affiliated with MC blah blah blah.
First pic is of the Marlin and OE CV's side by side. The Marlin looks larger because it's closer to the camera. They are the same length, except for the Marlin having more meat at the end of the bell.
Next is the OE CV bell thickness at 90.13mm:
And the Marlin bell thickness at 92.86mm - that's 2.73mm bigger than stock:
Next the OE CV's bearing race thickness at 4.54mm:
And the Marlin CV bearing race thickness at 5.71mm. That's over 25% extra material at the weakest point:
Last is a comparison of the two cages and bell ends. They are both turned at the same angle to show how much more material there is at the end of the Marlin. It's easy to see why OE CV's fail easily at full lock. As can also be seen, the Marlin's cage is noticeably larger:
I know Longs are the best but with the 25% greater material at the weakest point, the extra material at the end of the bell, the larger cage and the stronger material used for the CV, they should be enough to run 35's - maybe 37's (depending on the driver).

The main reason for sticking with the 27 splines was for ease of replacement parts - if I bust a 30 spline axle, it might be replaced under warranty but could take a couple of weeks for the replacement to arrive. Stock axles are cheap and plentiful so if I bust one, I can be out driving again within a couple of hours. Secondly, I only plan on running 35's and this axle might be going under a Zook.

Ah ok.
Stock lux are stronger than a zook cv, I got dirty 30's anyway for my hiluxdiff/zook on 35's. Ideally, I don't want to break stuff in the 1st place.
