Cheapest steel in Brisbane??

Post by bru21 »

Hi All,

I'm chasing a pack of 50x50x1.6 painted (64 lengths) to build my shelving at home.

Where are the best deals at the moment, its been a few years since I have bought a pack,

You are right there, AJ is way cheaper.
I have noticed that most guys in out estate buy their steel direct from Brisbane - assuming they are saving coin!

My price is $25.70 + per 8mtr length. Another supplier is $30+ for a pack.

Delivery in Brisbane would be $45, I could ask for a price to the sunny coast.

That sounds great! Best so far is $28.32 + gst.

Thats $1644,80 for a pack vs $1812.48 I can get so far.

If you could get a price for delivery that would be sweet. Tanawha 4556

Citisteel at Darra are usually more than Steelforce and charge more for delivery, but for me, they are much more convienient. Citisteel quoted $30+ per length.

Steelforce deliver daily as far as Gympie, Tanawah is $80+

Steelforce 1300 661 700

Steelforce did a 30 length pack though, not 64. Didn't make any difference to the price though.

That would suit me better - its a lot to work my way through!

Planning on:

Image

3400 high (4m eves), bench at 900, and span each bay @ 4800 roughly.
Was thinking I would make 6 to get started which is just shy of a full pack @82m each without working out waste.

not that it will probally effect your shelves bru, but just a point to make. there is a lot of chinese steel comming in the country.. it looks the good with tensile tests but the impacts on it which are not often requested by suplliers are very sub standard

if it welds and cracks and your doing everything by the books youve most likely got china to blame
