I walked it on friday ... there is a line there so it is still drivable but it needs a ton of work to get it clear enough to get a car through. too much chainsaw work and rock stacking to make it passable unless half a dozen blokes spend a weekend doing it.
Looks like i will have to cancell it. :(

Re: * Carnage Canyon 2011* cancelled for now
I had planned to run the event on 15th and 16th October so if half a dozen blokes put their hand up to have a track making weekend instead i'll see if the park will give us a free weekend to do it.
I have found a new route down the gorge but there is a lot of small trees etc that need chainsawing out of the way plus a bit of rock stacking is needed in one section to get through.
Even with water still flowing down the gorge the water level is only nuts deep so it is shallower than before.
We could have the comp in December instead

Re: * Carnage Canyon 2011* cancelled for now
I'll be happy to give a hand to re-build the tracks. I've always wanted to try this event While I'm there, I can maybe check it out and see if I want to enter my truck into this event
So when do you want to do this track building day? What date?

I could probably get some mates and chainsaws along too. Would be good to see this track drivable again.

Re: * Carnage Canyon 2011* cancelled for now
No good mate, would you maybe look to do it in the new year? Who knows a few groups may clear the way over the Chrissy holidays??
Re: * Carnage Canyon 2011* cancelled for now
Looks like i now have to work due to a change in employees at work but anyone is welcome to try and make the new track.
it will start from the kings road campsite near the dunnies and go down the left bank [need to cut the fence and make a gate] for a hundred metres or so then cross the river over one of the rock bars then it can follow the same basic route as it used to.
bugger, wish i could be there

Re: * Carnage Canyon 2011* cancelled for now
managed to get out there for a short time on the weekend ...
made a gate and cleared the logs either side of it ...
so if anyone is up there why don't you build a little more of the new track

Shane I might be able to help on this, as I would like to again use it for the XI - RFC in September. Possible work weekend sometime.
