i have once again ripped the inner rear bracket of the rear drivers side trailing arm off my coiler. This bracket and the several replacements i had made seem to be a weak link in the rear suspension. The diff tube has had these thing ground off and replaced several times and this is bound to be not good for the thin walled diff tube. I'm know there will be a "johny joint" for this hopfully soon but i don't know if this will solve the problem by letting the trailing arm twist or make it worse.
Is there something that i can do to fix this (apart from getting shorter shocks so it does not drop as far)
And secondly i keep destroying those f!#@$in' transfer case mounts with my rock hopper......hell i may as well mount it as a center concole.

Stu we are currently working on a coily now to rectifie this problem and make the front work better I'll keep you informed.We are also looking into fitting a wide track diff in the front so you can run an airlocker in the front. I reinforced my transfer case mounts on my old Zook and then it was ok.
There is a guy in our club (logan districts 4wd) that has a coil sprung zook with ARB up front.
From what i know he used a Jimny front ARB which although manufactured in Aus he could only order it from Europe. They dont bolt straight in but go real close and only need a little machining to fit.
Call Rod Reardon at the One Stop Suzi Shop on the gold coast on 075563844 as i beleive he modifed and fitted this to Simon's suzuki.

sam i'm very interested in how you solve the problem with the coiler flex and all associated damage it brings....well as long as it is a bolt on solution. I'd still put the earlier model front diff on a coiler as it will also then allow you to run a different crown wheel and pinion set up. Something about high pinion front diff just like the jimny and apparently the vitara's 5.12.1 wont fit in the front diff but still fits on the rear.

Stu i also have had those dramas but not with the actual brackets , mine r still fine but r slightly stronga now due to my braces unda my diff ( ive partially enclosed the lower section of the axle tubes with 75x5 shs ,without sacrificing to much loss in diff to gound clearance, now back 2 it i actually VERY often bend the arms quite badly n in 1 instance snapped it clean in half once it could bend (twist) no further ( but did allow 4 sum sik flex HEY HYPO. But really 5 link or a frame is the way 2 go 4 the rear , and 4 the front go 5 link or if adventurous build it like steve azzopardis twisty twisty 3 link wristed arm setup.
But atleast check out sams creation because its bound to work n give some sik flex .
As with the tranny mounts i have also busted mine v or atleast the single mount on the passenger side i solved this prob so far by fixing with a through bolt utilising a body mount bush or 2 in between the mounts and on the drivers side by adding a few braces . i prob could get some pics if interested !

breaking the trailing arms seem to be a common event. i know a couple of others coilers, both with bent trailing arms but no snapped brackets - i havent even bent a trailing arm (yet). i have reinforced the brackets before by cutting additional brackets out of 3mm steel and bolting and welding them to the existing brackets. this had worked quite well ....... for a while anyway as now both brackets on one side have snaped clean in half. i will be making new brackets out of 5mm steel and cutting and grinding off the existing brackets off to replace them with the new ones. (if not me i'll have to pay someone to do it. ) might try to move the spring seat while i'm at it.
apparently there is a few coilers who had replaced there trailing arms with custom made ones, has anyone got /seen these things. do they offer more flex or just bolt on as a replacement arm - nothing special no more flex.

In reagrds to seen any otha coilys with custom arms yes i have , while we were down at meani we ran into the (surprise ) zook club and there was a coily there same as mine but with bout 5 or 6" lift runnin series rockyhoppa 31"s and apparently the pevious owner had spent quite a lot of money on it with also havin some custom arms made they were bout 30mm or wida n ran i think he said falcon bushes so that it was cheap to relplace the arms looked well fabbed n i think would of had to of been laser cut ( real smick )
He also had a dual shock front but the inner shock was actually a honda prelude or some 4cyl strut that provided the right lenght

i'd love to have custom arms made up best to have them an inch or so longer, i reckon that the tyres would mince up the lower parts of the wheel arches of full compression. be good to push them out a bit
hell while i'm spending money i'd piss off the coil over shock system too, thats near useless.
how did that guy get a 5 inch lift, is that coil alone or with a body lift too.
