80 series rear extension housing swap

Post by howsie »

So does anyone know of the rear extension housing on a petrol 93 80 series full time can be swapped for a part time rear.

As many know the rear tailshaft output seal on the fulltime 80s requires the rear cover to come off and is a pain in the ass job. However the parttime rear cover has the traditional locking nut on the flange so changing the seal is a piece of cake. I figure if I gotta pull the cover off may as well make it better.

Can it be done or am I just going to have to deal with it. At 400 dollars from the mechanic ill be doing this myself. What a pain in the ass for a 16 dollar seal.
93 RV, 5 in tough dog lift, dobinsons shocks and coils, PA, dual fuel, many many oil leaks and a ton of character.
