New 3L diesel patrol
New 3L diesel patrol
Im just looking at buying a 2008 GU 3L diesel and just wondering how the new 3L diesels are i no the earlier 3L where no good but havent heard much on the new ones any help would be much appreciated
Re: New 3L diesel patrol
CRD came out in 2007 and some have reported bad fuel economy, and others have reported great fuel economy. All the hand grande issues from pre series II seem to have been solved.
IMO the 05 - 06 seems to be the pick of the bunch.

PM Bingham about his 05/06 3L and the hand grenade it turned into!
Agree the Common Rail ones seams to have ironed out most issues - but still hear people having issues with the idler tension pully, esp post creek crossings.
Would be interesting to talk to someone who works for Nissan about the post 2008 return rate

Mines starting to make noises in the morning now.
Should probably change it and the belt soon since they are original. Will probably wait a few thou and do it on the 200,000km service.
GU Patrol with go better bits added
Re: New 3L diesel patrol
i work on a mine site full time, and my company uses 2 patrol utes (2010 models) with the 3L common rail engine, they have stood up so far from our constant redline/revlimit abuse around the pit, but both have done a clutch, a gearbox, about 10 u-bolts on the diff, 1 exhuast manifold, a wastegate valve, 5 idler pully/adjuster sets, both have done the panhard rod bushes countless times.
the oldest of the 2 is only 36,000kms.
and are both VERY VERY GUTLESS!!!! ever sinse new, but they are ok on fuel despite the way they are driven!
BUT,,,,,, they do have a good A/C system!
I love my nissans but i wouldnt own one of these. especialy with what they are worth money wise.
