Longfields TIGHT spline

Post by Camos »

Ok, So I received my longs FJ80 super set a couple of weeks back now and have just decided to fit them up!
I have run into a small problem and wondering if anyone else has encountered this recently, upon installing them and trying to put manual locking hub back on I went to slide it over the cv and.... it is too tight to fully slide all the way over the spline!

I havent touched these with the grinder as I know some need to be modified for the c clip! So it can be a bur or something from myself!

The only problem I thought was that my hubs are avm hubs so I tried my factory flange and it doesn't slide all the way on either (actually its even tighter), they both only silde on about 10mm!

"REDROCKET" forum name has also encountered this problem and we ordered our sets at the same time from longfield so possibly there are a hand full of set made a fraction out?????? The only difference is that he ordered the hub gears from longs too (so one would assume they would fit there own hub gears), but there hub gears were tight too, I too plan on ordering some hub gears but it still doesn't solve our problem of all the cvs dont seem to allow any hub to slide over there spline completely!

I dont mind running the thin blade through the spline if need be but I plan on ringing longfileds tomorrow first and letting them know the issue incase there are more out there like this or if they know of a bad batch they need to replace!

but for now has anyone else had this problem???

OK so spoke to bobby this morning and he is out checking the other sets to see if it is common through out a batch, or unlucky couple. No amount of lube will help these puppys. He is very helpfull and is happy to work out a fix if can't get them right with a little grinding....
