Hi All,
I was after some advice on the best way to run in a fully re-built TD 42 engine.
Any information would be much appreciated from those who may have done this before.
Cheers

Running in a full rebuilt TD 42
Re: Running in a full rebuilt TD 42
Just drive it. change the oil and filters after a couple of hundred kms. then again about 1000 after that. then 5000km total and check your valve clearances as things bed in or if something is going bad in the valve train.
From what I've seen lately you can pretty give it 100% of your normal driving after the first oil change.

Thanks for that.
Re: Running in a full rebuilt TD 42
Few key points
1: don't over rev the motor,
2: don't let it idle for to long,
3: short shift the gears and load the FARK outta it to bed the rings in.
What I was told yesterday by my engine rebuilder. He just done mine for my hilux. Sane principal

Never heard of this, all i know is to be careful doing it because loading them up like that especially a turbo will send EGTs through the roof.

Re: Running in a full rebuilt TD 42
Im running my TD42t in atm. dont rev it but don't lug it to hard, a lond drive with some nice flowing hills is the best run. Service eng oil and filters at 1000kms cut filters and check for metal. Then run it normal driving till 5000kms and service it again oil and filters and cut filters. Also for the first 5000-10000kms run a full mineral oil. im using top dog, Using mineral oil allows for the eng to bed in, sinthetics are designed for no wear. Even once a year a sort run with mineral will clean up any glazing of the bores.
