Hi there, I'm looking in to buying a Nissan Patrol GU wagon for the wife. I'm not familiar with the Nissans at all! I've been a toyota man for many years. Can anyone tell me if the GU wagons came out with the 4.2TD engines or they all 3.0 TD's? If they did then what year? she also prefers the auto transmission option.

Yes, they did come with the 4.2 diesel, from the first series of GU's in 98 through to 2006 when the engine stopped being an option due to emission regulations.
Were never released in Oz in auto in the GU's as far as I know.
Some GQ TI's with 4.2 auto were sold in limited numbers though I think.

No auto with 4.2TD as far as I know. They are in all GU series 1-4, stopping about '05-'06 I think.

bear in mind series 1 GU's also came with the 2.8 6 cylinder TD....... dont bother. (ducks for cover from 2.8 owners)

It may be hard to find a clean, stock (ish) 4.2GU, at a reasonable price. I know of a 2003 4.2, almost bone stock, grey nomad caravan tow car with 130,000k's approx that went for close to $40,000.

Are you sure it's not for you??? I am selling my intercooled TD42T in a few weeks but it's definately not stock!
