HDK CV Joint

Post by thespanner »

Hey guys

Is anyone out there running these CV Joints http://www.ebay.com.au/itm/Japanese-Mad ... 1e63b4d6e3" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;

The add says that HDK are the supplier to Nissan and that they are made in Japan

If there is any one running these I would like to know how they are standing up to it compared to NTN (Genuine) CV joint and if they are going to handle 37 inch Treps

I Know there are Cal CVs and I am currently saving for these but I need something in the meantime and these dont look to bad

or I have been told that there was someone on here that used to sell NTN CVs if so has anyone got his details

Thanks
Matt

Before u buy Cals look at heat treated cvs from Bolsy(haultech I think do them for him) or yuri. Alot cheaper than cals.

bolsys and yuro do a heat treated item but when you work a cal front end out to each individual items price they actually are pretty close in price for a cv its just you have to buy the set

I have just purchased a set of Bolsy's but havent fitted them yet. I do know of someone running them in a 40series with a gq front diff on 37 inch treps and hasnt had a problem.
They cost me $375 each supplied and heat treated. Cals are $1400+ for the pair

My mate and I have been running Yuri CVs in our Mod Class GQ in the now defunct Superior All Terrain Challenge and have stood up to Jacks right foot very well. We were running 35 pedes and locked. The comps were across a range of obsticles and terrain, from fast out and back tracks to slow and tech and also across rock gardens. We are getting out of racing now and have a pair of CVs for sale if you want?? PM me if your interested.

Are these Caloffroad, Bolsy's and Yuri items stonger on the inside? I always break the inside of the CV, not the outer bell.

From original question: Bought two HDK's as spares ages ago (About $150 each).
Broke a genuine factory last Thursday whilst going up Mt Pinnabar/Vic. (Ute has 300,000 on it). Changed it on the side of the track.
Chinese $50 CV in the other side is going clunk clunk. Cant get any more than 8 months out of an ex- Hobzee "600HP" chinese CV.
Inner six balls are about 10mm in diameter. HDK is same as genuine factory (about 12mm from memory). Better quality steel.
