Premier brand brake pads

Does anyone have any experience with Premier brake pads?

I need to replace the front pads on my partners Mitsu Mirage. It's not driven much but I want pads that won't squeal as I've heard cheaper pads tend to be very noisy.

I use Bendix 4WD pads on my Suzi and whilst I can't fault them they are pricey.

Never used Premier sorry mate, but I'm using heaps of Lucas TRW pads atm and they are an excellent product, I rate them much higher than Bendix.

I take it Lucas is different from the Lucas Prince of Darkness electricals as used by Land Rover?

How does Bendix compare to ADB (Aust Disk Brakes) or RDA?

I just found out ADB make Calibre (SupercheapAuto) brake pads so they sound pretty poor quality.

Have you priced up Bendix or similar for the Mirage? I can't imagine they would be heaps for a smaller car.
And when it comes to something like brakes do you really want to be stingy and get the cheapest option?

I like the slogan my local brake shop has... "It's a nuisance when your car won't start. But when it won't STOP it's a disaster!" (or something like that)

Bendix are nearly twice the price of RDA/DBA.

However whilst I've read good reports of DBA/RDA rotors I also read not-so-good reports on their pads.

I just figure there has to more competition out there for general-use brake pads other then Bendix.

TRW used to be absolute crap however, I believe they have improved significantly lately.

QFM is another brand to look at. Not as pricey as Bendix but of comparable quality.

Don't buy Ferodo in anything other than their "Thermo Quiet" range unless you like squeeling brakes. Their TQ pads are up there near the Bendix CT pads in price though. YMMV.

Over the weekend, I checked on the rear pads of my wife's Magna (still OK after 230000 km, although getting down about half way). I noted that the pads had soft shim material fitted between the caliper and the pad backing plates. Never seen that before. I assume that it was to minimise squealing. Front pads still only about half worn as well, so I am not complaining - most of the car's running is sone at 100 km/h on relatively flat roads, so I wouldn't expect to wear out the pads (or the clutch for that matter) in less than 350000 km.

I don't rate bendix, bought them once, never again. They are now supercheaps main brake pad option too.

Thermo Quiets are about the same price as Bendix GCTs if I recall correctly. Ferodo make some of the best racing brake pads around. Bendix may have the big name, but I've probably had more problems with Bendix pads than any other brand.

How lately are we talking here? I have been using them on and off for around 8 years and they have always been pretty good. I now use them over most other brands were possible. The only downside is they are very dusty.

I used them when I was an apprentice mechanic back in the mid to late 90's. They were terrible for squeal, dust and fade.

I have used 1 set recently because I had no other choice ( Sunday arvo, only local auto shop was open). So far the jury is still out. They seem to be better for resistance to fade but are still very dusty.

Ferodo are a similar story. They were absolute crap for many years. Again they have improved significantly.

being a mechanic i do alot of brake pads and we only bendix. We have too many warranty claims on squealing and complaints about brake dust on other cheaper brands. I find the bendix to the best never had a problem.
