Need help with buying an FJ40

Post by Midnight Middy »

Hey all,
I am looking at buying an fj40 again... iv owned and sold 5 now.
I am now looking at buying an fj40 with a rebuilt Holden red 308 stroker, 37" mudzilla muddies, 2" cab lift, 6" suspension lift, custom roll cage, rancho suspension, on straight gas. It has a blown rear diff, also needs the engine to be engineered and gas tank to be certified.
Should i walk away now or get someone to have a look at it?
I live in Brisbane the car is in Newcastle.

You might find registration/roadworty in QLD an issue... (6" lift, 37" tyres, and nothing else QLD mod plated) First thing would be to find an engineer who could get it past Q Transport.

Your totally right about the lift and suspension. I have a set of 31's from my last 40 and the lift... well that could be a problem but it doesnt look like the 6" lift.

looks like a bit of a hack.. depending on how hey did the steering upgrade you might be able to get that plated.. just depends on what they did.. hows the condition of the body? worst case could you get some money back parting it if it all goes pear shaped?

That's no 6" lift, the suspension looks terrible. Tyres are worn too by the looks. Cage not flash, body rough.... Add on QLD engineering costs, gas compliance, rego.

How much more incentive do you need to not buy this car for $5k?
