RUF and Hi-Steer?
hey guys, have recently fitted locktup4x4 histeer kit into my hilux (LN65 2.4TD) which already had RUF... fitted kit as per instructions and it seems that the 2 histeer arms are too close together? looks as if axle upflexes the arms will cross eachother and hit? has this happend to anyone before and where could i start looking for problems? any help at all would be good, thank you!
my mate thinks it could be that i havent fitted a dropped front hanger but i was under the impression that all that done was correct diff castor angle? thanks again

Hey mate it sounds as if you've put your ifs steering box too far back. If your draglinks are crossing and binding then you're gonna have problems. It will limit your uptravel and put a lot of pressure on the draglinks and high steer arms. You may have to start again with the ifs steering box mount....

thats the thing its as far forward as the fish plates would let me go.. would there be any other posabilities?

When its sitting at normal ride height are the draglinks parallel or even better, has the front one got a larger gap on the drivers side of the car between both draglinks when looking from on top?

A picture tells a thousand words, but I reckon 94lux is on the money. You need to remount your box further forward. Or you could move your diff back if you dont need the extra firewall clearance from the ruf.

i dont have a photo im sorry.. but if anyone has any photos of IFS box fitted to chassis with histeer/ruf i would appreciate it if you could post them up to compare your fitment to mine? thankyou!!

Sounds like you haven't mounted the box far enough forward

Sounds obvious but have you used the correct holes on the passenger side arm?
Is your steering box pretty close to touching your bodymount?If not then its nto far enough forwrads or your springs have moved the diff too far forwards.
Buy the locktup leafs(theyre pretty damn good) or get other springs or ive heard of people re drilling the spring mounts or springs.

Pretty sure you wouldnt even be able to put the tie rods in the arm the wrong way around. They'd hit straight away....I'd be starting again with your power steering mount and look at zook60's photo of how to place it, i'd also be running a flat pitman arm if i were you. What pitman arm are you using?? If it's an 80 series one you may find it too long and the arms will hit. Go to the wreckers and buy a 2wd power steer pitman arm. These are the shortest and flattest stock item for toyota. No need to buy an after market one.
