I bought mine pre chopped with no rear screen. It's just flat steel with horizontal supports. In the process of cutting in a rear screen. Grabbed a GU ute glass, made a template, measure, mark, plasma, tidy up, then call the glassie to come take his measurements and cut something to suit. (GU screen is curved & won't fit in flat panel, just used it as a guide so it suits the vehicle)

Used sheet metal and braced it. an old hilux window was used, suits it well.

You can use canopy windows as well, the front window from a canopy has a middle slide open section (designed to be able to clean the back cab window of utes) it bolts on & came with all gaskets, rubbers, bolts ect & is lockable. you can get them new from any canopy manufacturer IE;- 3XM, EGR, FLEXIGLASS ect ect the whole kit was about $350 & easy to install, I used a Jig-saw to cut the hole, marked the drilled the bolt holes, then bolted it in.

Mate how thick of sheeting did you go, Im half thinking of doin this as wreckers want nearly 1000 just for a back wall off a gu ute, joshy wrote:Used sheet metal and braced it. an old hilux window was used, suits it well.

How well do you think it would work on a slightly tilted back window. As I have used the D pillars from a wagon to make part of the back wall for my ute. So its not vertical.pigletracing wrote:You can use canopy windows as well, the front window from a canopy has a middle slide open section (designed to be able to clean the back cab window of utes) it bolts on & came with all gaskets, rubbers, bolts ect & is lockable. you can get them new from any canopy manufacturer IE;- 3XM, EGR, FLEXIGLASS ect ect the whole kit was about $350 & easy to install, I used a Jig-saw to cut the hole, marked the drilled the bolt holes, then bolted it in.

As currently I have the top portion window frame from the barn doors that I am intending to use as my window frame. But I think the window will be two big. I also like the idea of a sliding window.
Just being angled I am not sure if it would stay water tight.
