Nissan Patrol 3.0L TD info

Post by 93cruiser6.5GMTD »

Gidday,
Can anyone tell me what the best option is for purchasing a 3.0L TD? I'm at a loss trying to figure out what the difference is between the Multi point injection(MPI) and the Direct injection(DI) engines.... and what year did they change over from the MPI to the DI?
I'm looking for a wagon 3.0L TD Auto and want to spend up to 25K. Any suggestions much appreciated.

the 3.0 TD never had MPI. i think nissan called its dual stage injectors M-Fire. they are all direct injection.
theres simply the common rail and non-common rail versions.
patrol4x4 has the date when common rail version come out.

Thanks Tweek'e,
I was obviously confused with the fact that some GU wagons were advertised as either MPI or DI on carsales.com. Another point of interest is what is the main difference between the GU DX and ST models? Theres so many different badges that it doe's my head in trying to determine what I'm looking at. The Patrol wagons look quite attractive but was a little concerned about the power output of the 3.0L 4 cyl TD. How would you rate the 4 cyl to a 2.8L 6 cyl TD?

patrol4x4 forum is probably a better place to ask. the badges typically just indict level of trim/options.

the 2.8 is slow, the 3.0 is fast ;)
