removing troopy front diff centre
i have a 75 series troopy 91 model.whats the easiest way to pull the front axles out to get the diff centre out, so i can install auto locker ??? cheers mick

The front centre is the worst in terms of amount of work required. You basically have to strip FW Hubs, calipers (just tie up out of road instead of disconnecting), wheel hub and brake rotor, stub axle (what the wheel bearings sit on) and then you can pull the axles out a few inches. Then you can pull the diff centre out. You have to do both sides.
If you have not done this before my suggestion is lots of news paper and lay things out in order you remove them so you know how to put it back together (do not forget to bend over the locking tabs on the hub nuts).
If I was going this far I would also change all the seals as well. This can take as little as a couple of hours if you do not strip and clean to a full 8 hours if you strip clean and replace wearing parts. You can get a full seal and bearing kit from E-Bay for $150 odd bucks which I found to be the best value.

Depends how good you are but when I pulled a 3rd member put I just took out king pins and left the hole hub assembly together. It is hard to line up after tho when reinstalling
93 duel cab lux. 2.8 TD twin locked. Big tyres, little lift. Wide stance. Barwork and build up under way

this is my method for getting the front axles/ front diff out. just remember which side what shims go on and it's all good. you will need to pull the face of the freewheeling hub to undo the circlip (or bolt on old hubs) holding the stub axle in, and you will have to remove the wiper seal retainers too.

so remove circlip kingpins and the bolts on the swivel hub and it all should pull off?????

Most likely it'll take some wiggling, and you might need to push/pull your kingpin bearings into line because the knuckle will usually catch on them, but yeah it will. be careful tho, those assemblies are heavy.biegetroopy wrote:so remove circlip kingpins and the bolts on the swivel hub and it all should pull off?????
