Nick....
ATM i have 4.88s. After going out and seeing a few "auto" boys, and how much easier they climb up stuff, im now considering an auto box along with the V8. Therefore, i MIGHT leave the diffs i have now in it, as autos have some shithouse ratios. Then use a set of 4.7 case gears.

Im doin the motor myself....just need to figure out what box i wanna use. The electronic auto that is used behind the Lexus 8, is a fairly good box, but i will need to make or get made an adapter plate to hook up to the transfer case. Im not a big fan of Holden boxes (i know they are strong and all), i just dont like the shit.

with the stock auto you have to use the stock computer - they run like shit

should see the girl friends old man's nissan - has the 4L lexus in it with a nissan 5 speed and a wolf 3D version 4 computer - towing a 2 tonne trailer every day it scares some of the commodore boys - the diffs are the stock nissan 4.2Diesel GQ ones (what ever they are)

Yes, i do realise that i will have to run the stock ECU if i use the stock auto box. I have wired a number of these motors up before, so its not the 1st time ive done it. And since when does it run like shit with a stock ECU?!?!?! You would have to fuck up the wiring pretty bad to make it run like a POS.......

Even if i do decide to keep the car a manual, i will still use the stock ECU (and yes, it does work with a manual box). And WHEN i turbocharge it (yes, you heard right!!!) i will STILL use the stock ECU as they have the ignition/timing/fuel room in the ECU to run 7psi.

If i decide to get stoopid with it......i'll use a MoTec.......no point using any other ECU.....

Phil,

Last time i saw you you had 35's on anyway? Your making the right decision with keeping 35's rather than 33's I bought these and couldn't upgrade fast enough. You also won't be able to get 15's on the rear unless you shave a little off the rear of the calipers or go the pre '94 drums as i think yours is a 96'.

When/if you get closer to the auto and you want to customise the converter give me a yell.
