td42 low hot idle oil pressure

Post by big lux »

My engine with just over 1000kms has low eng oil pressure (20psi) but only when its hot and at idle rest of the time it hangs bettween 40-60psi. Anyone had or got any idea's on this i thought maybe the pump but it's $520 for a new pump from nissan ex japan. So would like to make shure it cant be anything else.

What sore of oil? Shite oil can give low oil pressure. Fuel dilution can also cause the same
Also it could be an idea to replace the filters in case they have picked up stuff from the build.

Other than that a bit of silicon or shite stuck under the pressure relief?

Easy checks before a pump change

no, there are two reliefs and they are on that alloy mounting piece for the oil filters.

from memory 12-14psi is the lower limit by the book

if you are really worried you can always fit an extra remote oil cooler

If it'e brand new it's probably got a little fuel in the oil from the initial bedding in as it would have had poor ring seal....

Wether there is enough fuel to make an actual noticeable difference is another story...
