thanks to scenic rim and the harris family for allowing us to run kotr 11 . it was alot of hard work put in behind the scenes to make it happen . i cant thank our volunteers enough the kane family . the bradshaws and remy . you guys did a awsome job . ben english who was running around all day and supplied the generators so we had lights for the night stage . thanks mate .
special thanks to my family who helped me over the last couple of months .sandy karlie krissy and my right hand man mitch .
thanks to all the sponsors all metal magic off road boss tjm arb off road cartel dirt comp 4wdtv toro 4x4 and australian 4wd action .
thanks to all the competitors for the effort you all put in to entertain us all .
some who came from as far away as sydney we hope it was worth the drive. u all seemed to like the new format and i am sure we can make bigger and better next year.
congraulations to matt dunk and team deus for taking 1st place in the buggy class. we know the time and effort you put in to getting your buggy ready for this event. to watch it in action was priceless. for it to perform the way it did with so little test time was a testament to your build skill and knowledge. awesome effort

congrats to chris wood and team diesel for taking out 1st place in extreme mod and 3rd place in buggy truggy. u drove to the conditions and was consistent all day. and to drive in both classes was a huge effort considering the hot conditions.

a couple of stand outs over the weekend for me were al tierney and his wife in his v8 gq ute who got the fastest time on the hill drags and the fastest lap time in extreme mod class. also to dave from team dgr in his single seater buggy to come in 2nd place overall was a massive effort.

I didn't realise I was only 20 odd minutes off Matt's pace! Are you sure that's correct? :D

Overall, the weekend was great! Brett, Mitch and all the other officials did a fantastic job! Many thanks to all the organisers the countless hours that went into creating the event.

On a personal note, I'm happy to say we ran well all weekend. I was able to keep my cool (for most of it) and still be running at the end. Thanks to the Team DGR sponsors: Superior Engineering, Locktup 4x4 and Universal Driveshafts Qld
yes the time is correct bb but matt dunk wasnt pushing it due to that he didnt have a spare tyre after he destroyed one on friday in pre run .
anyone who was lucky enough to see matt pre running on friday saw how much quicker and how much potential this car has.
who knows what lap times would be possible.
huge effort beebee on your consistent run

Well what a great event!

There's heaps of action on Facebook
Plenty of cameras there obviously! he he

Man I had a good time on the Mic - hopefully I didn't bore you guys too much - I tried to keep it fun and informative!

Cheers to everyone that came and checked out the gear at the OC Stall!
It was a great exhibitors alley with plenty of cool stuff to check out!

The Monster/RockRacing4x4 girls were a highlight!
What a great idea and brought plenty of entertainment whilst the action in between vehicles hitting the Arena Area!

Anyway I had a blast all round and can't wait to do it all again!

Thanks so much to

Offroad Boss - being the major sponsor is a big commitment and it is great to see you guys get behind so many of these SRAP events!
To all the track sponsors - cheers!
To the organisers - - you guys have really took this concept and run with it - I know that there are always improvements to be made but I think you did a great job of growing this sport - I can't wait to see the 2012 event!
To Scenic Rim - thanks for letting us come and enjoy your great park! There are only limited areas now where this sort of event could even be considered - thanks so much for making this land available to race on!
To all the competitors - thanks so much for putting on a great show! It was a very professional bunch of racers that turned up to take on the challange and it was definately a great show - I know a few of you probably would have loved to get a few more laps in - but I hope you enjoyed yourself and are looking to the future!
To all the event officials! Thanks for all your hard work through the very hot day! Whilst we spectators took refuge in the shade - you guys worked tirelessly to keep things flowing! I appreciate that you gave your time for this loveless job! You could have been drinking brews on the sidelines - instead you worked! A huge pat on the back to you all!
To the spectators - thanks for being an overall well behaved bunch! Everyone I talked to seem to have a good time - no doubt the heat was a pain - but it was great to have most of the action close at hand to the main gate! I do believe that this event will continue to evolve and the tracks will continue to get better and better from both a spectator and access point of view as the KOTR racing continues!

If there is anyone at all that I have missed that was involved in the KOTR2011 I thank you too. :D

As an official for the weekend i would just like to say that even thou it was bloody hot standing in the middle of the play area all day, trying to keep updates going to the MC and running generators around for everyone i would do it all again tomorrow  .(if i wasn't so bloody unfit and still suffering from sunburn) :bad-words:
The event was very well organized and the action was like nothing i had seen before.
I'll say it just like everyone else"Matt Dunks Ultra 4 styled buggy was awesome to watch".
Thanks to Brett and Mitch and all the others that volenteered their time both on Saturday and lots of other days outside of the event to make sure that this event was organized well and the tracks were all set up ready for Saturday.
As a volenteer at other events i realize how much of your own time and sometimes monay goes into this and i hope everyone appreciates your efforts.
A big well done to the guys from Offroad Cartel for keeping everyone entertained during the times it was a bit quiet on the track with commentry, music and videos playing.
Great job to all the other exhibitors for coming out and putting on displays for everyone to see.
Thanks to Dave from Rockracing 4x4 forum and Monster Energy Drinks for the visual entertainment and drinks throughout the day :drinking:
I hope that everyone enjoyed the day and i will be back next year to offer my help even thou the car i compete in will be finished and i would like to race i'm sure he can find another victim/passenger. :D
I hope to see all the competitors back next year (some with BIGGER radiators) and i know next year there will be more competitors as there are still cars out there getting built that werent ready for this year.
Cheers

Wow what an amazing event! To have been part of it as both a sponsor and a competitor was an absolute privilege. On behalf of us all here at Offroad Boss I'd like to extend a massive thank you to Brett and Mitch Thorpe, for all their work effort and attention put towards this event for the last six months or so. Their ability to co-ordinate an event is beyond quetion. Also to all the officials who helped on the day, and leading up to the event, most of whome I didn't get to meet, and anyone else that has lent a hand, thank you. As has already been mentioned, it was tough enough in the shade, let alone out in the sun all day. I'd also like to give a huge thanks and thunbs up to the Offroad Cartel crew. These guys created an awesome atmosphere all day, and are a must for next year, in my book. We can continue to make a bigger show of this over time, more than just a race.
I'm sure every competitor there put in enormous effort just to roll up to the starting line, I know we did. Some guys had to work hard most the day just to finish, others weren't even that lucky, but to all of you, thank you for all your efforts. And lastly, thank you to the Harris family for your work, and providing this area for the race.
I'm sure this event will snowball from here, with plenty of teams talking about how to better approach next years race.
Looking forward to it already,
Cheers

So close yet so far  Would of been good to see separate times for both stages and then added together for an overall, anyways high fives to everyone involved, can't wait for next year.

Yes i have to say as well - huge thanks to Brett and Mitch first of all. They are both real gentleman and ran the whole event like true professionals, always willing to listen and keen on feedback but they had already set a great course.

Also a big thanks to Wendy and Kareen for putting up with all my questions you ladies did a great job at the gate, and i'm sure were involved in a lot behind the scenes.

Thanks must also go to the sponsors and officials without these companies and people events never happen.

Thanks to my sponsors EFS they have supported me over many years and i proved what can be done with their range of springs/shocks, and standard bump stops. Our suspension is available to anyone and to do the quickest Extreme Mod lap time proves that the EFS product is able to mix it with much more expensive products. Plus we ran the Silverstone Xtremes without beadlocks etc which proves anyone can get out there and be competitive without spending a whole heap of money first.

Most of all i must thank my wife, she gave me confidence before and during the race and did the best job ever helping me wheel the GQ around the track. Also she put up with me spending so much time getting ready at the expense of family time. I loved the event and think I was the only car to drive there, race and drive home again?

I'd like to offer a point of interest for you guys out there that I observed over the weekend.

I know that everyone wants everything to flow nicely for the faster teams - but it is my opinion that the traffic jams and the way teams handle them are what makes Ultra4 racing so unique to RockRacing.

I feel that competitors should not have been allowed to move off the track to clear a traffic jam - instead - like Hammers they have options - which is to help the broken/stuck team or find a creative alternate line...

I know that this was done in the interest of keeping the event flowing - however I think that the spectators getting to see the top guys push alternate angles and lines that they wouldn't normally take is what will keep this sport interesting.

I also like the idea of no course changing for faster cars due to traffic jams because it keeps it consistant - no doubt if marshall's lift the bunting and wave a fast guy through - there will come a time when it will be an area of contention - some teams will think another team is getting special treatment - better lines - whatever it may be - if they all have to stick to the track and make the best of their own race it will bring in a lot of stratagy too...

Maybe I'm on the wrong track but I'd like to know what other spectators thought as it always makes for the hightlight reels on the KOH Dvds when someone does a crazy pass - heck it was previlant when the cheers errupted when Matt Dunk passed on Crampys Climb -

I would also like to hear what competitiors thought of this - as maybe they like the fact that they aren't held up by someone elses problems?
I can see how this is an advantage to the fast guys - but I will say again I think it is the passing & crazy alternate lines that make USA Ultra4 so spectacular?

Cheers

I'm all for making people work their way around. No tape lifting. Sorta defeats the purpose of interval running of the same track in my opinion.

But all in all was a top weekend. Shame so many had bad luck with random breakages but hey, thats racing. The heat definately showed a number of tems they need some better cooling  .

Oh and good work on commentating for the weekend digsy. With lines like "double ended ram", "Rod ends", and " Anyone would be happy with 12 inches". I was entertained

Hope that alot more aus drivers get behind this style od event and it can kick off like the ultra4 series in the us. Definately best offroad style event in the world
