MQ vs 35's
MQ vs 35's
I'm running 35's on the MQ swb with all stock running gear and i want to install front locker.
How will the front diff and axles hold up to the bigger rubber?
Will i be doing cv's every weekend?
IF NOT.. I will go for rear locker, Its a h233 in the back, That will handle 35's and locked wont it?
Cheers

Re: MQ vs 35's
i had a mk lwb with 35s and i locked front and rear had no problems with the rear but the front end could not handle it first the auto hubs went then the cvs. i would brake a cv nearly every time i went wheeling. one of the only options for the front of the mq is to convert it to a gq front axle. witch is stronger. i would just leave the front open diff and lock the rear.

Re: MQ vs 35's
Can I ask why it has been canned? Was it because i mentioned another 4x4 forum?
Re: MQ vs 35's
Anyway.. What i said was, i have decided to lock the front and see how i go; I have another disc to disc diff which I have started a steering knuckle "cut n turn" on.. Why do this with a shitty old mq diff? because its there, and i might as well practise on it, before i start toying with bigger axle swaps i.e GQ, 80series..... So if (when) i destroy the cv's i'll put in the new diff with an LSD if i can find one.
Im doing the cut n turn because i destroyed unis in consecutive wheeling trips from extreme driveshaft angle. I have done a shackle reversal and the this along with a very short driveshaft, just cause mass breakage!!

God of Magnificant Ideas!

Re: MQ vs 35's
GQ cv's fit on the end of MQ front axles. I did this for years with my MQ. You just need the inside bits out of a GQ free wheeling hub. They will be stronger than MQ cv's but will still break eventually. The rear axles snap very easily too with 35's. I had billet steel axles made up for mine, after i broke at least 3 axles each side first which in turn broke the end cap of the air locker each time...

Re: MQ vs 35's
was that the C200 or H233B or H260 rear diff that broke axles?A.R.T Racing wrote:GQ cv's fit on the end of MQ front axles. I did this for years with my MQ. Re: MQ vs 35's
The small rear diff which i think is the H233B. My diffs were out of the 2.8 Petrol but the diesel axles fit also.

Re: MQ vs 35's
C200 has an unboltable inspection plate.
H233B is the normal diff. Most MK had these, MQs had C22
H260 are Large diffs MQ utes, GQ leaf sprung utes and GUs leaf sprung utes, some 3liters, some 4.8petrols.....
My MQ had C200 front, H233B rear and now has H233 front (B - low pinion) an H260 rear.
I have a C200 air locker if your chasing one Shane.

not sure its a good idea to lock the front, probably better to wack a GQ in but if its cheap enough i could give it a try.

Re: MQ vs 35's
I beat on my C200 pretty hard for a year or so with 35s. It is locked with an ARB and it has GQ outer CVs and hubs. Never gave me a problem, it is stout for what it is, stronger then a D44 before upgrades IMHO. I will be dropping the C200 under another truck sometime in the future. That is how much I like it. I recently busted a stock CV in my FJ60 Cruiser that sits on 35s. It was easy to break and my Patrol C200 has taken much more flogging.

Re: MQ vs 35's
BTW folks....Nissan uses the numbers to indicate ring gear size. IE, C200 = 200mm ring gear. FYI, in case you didn't know.
